Hey Sub,

So I only recently got interested in the steam deck (a few months ago) and I was debating on getting it, then valve came out with the OLED version and I’m even more interested. I’m curious what people’s experiences have been with the steam deck. Obviously no one has access to the OLED version yet, so outside of a select few I can’t get any reviews of that version. I have a mid-high end gaming pc that I absolutely love. I’ve been a console gamer my whole life and only relatively recently switch to pc (best gaming decision I’ve ever made). The only downside of my pc is that I can’t take it with me or play anywhere other than my desk.

I feel like if I got a steam deck I would still use my PC for the AAA games that I play or other games that would be better suited for a desktop experience, but it would be nice to play my favorite rogue-like games or even the odd AAA game when I wanna lay in bed, go on a trip, etc. Another thing I feel like it would be great for is when I sleep over at my girlfriend’s place. She goes to bed earlier than I do and it would be nice to have something to game on then.

Do you guys think it’s worth the money to buy one of the OLED versions or should I just stick to the LCD for these purposes?

TL;DR: For casual, relatively limited use, playing rogue-likes and occasionally AAA games, is the LCD a better choice than the OLED?

Edit: Anyone perfectly content with their LCD?
