My problem with Dominion has always been that you can close it the second it gets gruesome. Like, before I was vegan I stumbled upon the video a couple of times but always closed it rather quickly. It is probably effective if you get through the whole documentary but that requires you to keep watching literal animal abuse / killing for a while. I doubt many carnists are in for that.
The interesting part is the cognitive dissonance of eating animals but not being able to stomach their torture and murder.
That said, this is also true for supporting capitalism which tortures billions and murders 24 million people every year.
What helped me get off meat and ultimately animal products was to understand that it is not my moral failing to not be able to do it 100% but my material circumstances. This took out the pressure which otherwise would have pushed me to reaction.
Since then I have turned a couple people to reduce their meat intake, some dont eat meat or animal products most if the time.
That said, i have an unsolved contradiction since recently that it is hard to be a ML vegan because youre in a hostile environment and mistakes can kill you while adhering to the massive additional commitment and 10x time needed to get vegan food at times. I both want to keep not supporting animal torture but i do so by living and paying taxes too and not dogmatise into dysfunctionality for the cause.
Edit: forgot my thought.
