I don’t think it is realistic, but if they had to go to the Championship, do you think there will be players who want to stay and get up again, or they just look for an other Club? Which club would even be a possibility for the biggest city stars?
Sorry for my english
If 1 violation = 10 point deduction, then 115 = 1,150 point deduction.
They aren’t going to be allowed to do one season in the 2nd tier and bouce straight back up.
Papa Perez gets haaland first up 😭
He would be just lurking around the Etihad with a high ass fishing net for real
Think they stay , though pep would leave
Loan to Wrexham till contract expires.
Every last one of them would go.
Lol, as if this is a serious question.
I think the majority stay to get back up to be fair… even though I’d love for the players to move on 😅
It would be a mix.
Some would take reduced salary to stay and help.
Some would be loaned for a season.
Some would be sold.
The remainder would be a financial anchor on city for FFP/sustainability and would likely just be released by mutual agreement after the transfer window closes. They don’t want to play for City, City can’t afford to keep them.
To make it as easy as possible for the players, move them to a team with similar name. Added benefit that the players can continue living in their houses, instead of moving somewhere new.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Pep stayed and inspired the entire squad to stay too. He’d then be promoted immediately, come straight back up to the Premier League and win that too and it would go down in history like a Leicester situation and nobody would every speak about why they went down, only that they came straight back and the success story.
I think a lot of people are underestimating how devastating Man City being demoted to the Championship would be for them.
They can obviously easily absorb any financial loses from fines and a year out of the PL and CL but given it’s widely accepted( at least in the U.K.) that they are a state sponsored sports washing institution the whole reason for their existence in their current form is meant to be symbolic.
Suddenly becoming symbolic of corruption and cheating in the eyes of the causal sports fan across the world( rather than just U.K. based PL fans) means their attempts at sports washing will suddenly be deemed an utter failure-especially if all their trophies are rescinded. The current owners aren’t in it for the love of the club or the city or even to make money. They are there to foster a certain reputation in the eyes of the world-and those reputation goals is certainly not to highlight corruption.
As such if Man City are actually severely punished(which is unlikely in reality) it may not be the quick bounce back most are expecting as there is then the very real possibly the owners will sell.
Despite currently being the most successful on the pitch club in the world there is unlikely going to a host of multiple billionaire owners desperate to buy as they simply don’t have the global fan base to make them a super attractive prospect. Juventus and Rangers sprang back so quickly after their punishments because their fanbase was so large, loyal and organic. Everybody knows that 90 percent of Man City fans are plastic casuals who will jump ship as soon as they stop winning.
As unlikely this possibility is, itt would be interesting to see , also fun for fans of other clubs Thank you for your insightful comment
They’re all mercs, they play for a club owned by a human rights abusing regime, they’ll scatter and pick up their paychecks elsewhere
There is no mechanism to ban, or relegate from the PL. Only a points deduction, which may lead to a relegation. If that happened city would return in a year and then struggle with £ for a few years and be mid table.
Well as long as city continue paying their salary why would they care is my opinion. A season playing rotation in the championship to just go straight up again
I think they’d loan the bigger players out to foreign CL clubs, develop youth talent until they’re back in the PL or if they win a carabao/fa cup and have some euro football
They go to Saudi
