I’m sure this is a popular question but how do you deal with parents who don’t approve of me wanting to work in europe for some time. I initially worked in europe for a few months following graduating from university and I’ve been meaning to go back ever since (I’m an eu citizen which makes things even easier). I’ve always been clear that I intend to live and raise a family near my home, but for the next for years while I’m in my 20s I want to live and work in different places. My parents are convinced that living in Europe is some sort of dream world and that I’m just delaying “normal life” (working a 9-5 in my hometown). They always say you can do something like that when you’re older and more established, but I know it gets so hard to do that once you’re settled in a career. They think that a few years abroad would be devastating to my resume and hurt my long term future. I love my family so much and care about them more than anything so it’s almost impossible to disobey them, but at the same time I’m scared my future self will regret never taking that leap and not going abroad again.

Go do it despite their disapproval. You/they are going to have so many more excuses and reasons to not do it when you’re older and more established. Do it now before you have a good job you don’t want to leave, a house, a partner who doesn’t want to uproot their life, children etc.
