I just got the new AW Ultra and the battery lasted me about a day and a half. Then Without meaning to I turned off the Always On and it’s been 12 hours since last full charge and it just hit 90%…. That’s such a relief.

I went from a S3 to a S7 and i turned off that feature straight away lol, it doesn’t take that much effort to turn my wrist to see the time, and it saves me from having to charge it as often as i’d probably have to

I like the aesthetic of having the AOD on though I found out I basically have to choose between that or Raise on Wake because the battery life on my AWS8 is atrocious with both enabled. I chose to go with AOD but honestly think the watch is more functional with Raise on Wake.

It would be nice if you could change aod on and off based on watchface which you are using

I have it on during workouts and if I wear short sleeves. But in winter with hoodies and heavy jackets I have it off most of the time sicne I can’t just glance at it like I can during summer.

Y’all with the Ultra/Ultra 2 are lucky. I picked up an S5 when the S6 was new specifically to use with AoD. Fast forward to current year and, with both the degraded (80%) health and watchOS 10 being a battery hog, AoD makes the difference between being able to track my workout after work or my watch not even making it to the end of the workday.

That said, it definitely looks nicer when the watch on your wrist isn’t just a black screen. I can live (well, have to live) without AoD since I can just flick my wrist upward, but it feels more respectable when you and people around you can see a watch face on the black rectangle on your wrist, or that’s how I feel at least…

First thing I turned off. I don’t see the watch face if it’s not facing me. I don’t care if other people know the time from my watch. lol

After WatchOS 10 I’ve even created a shortcut to quickly toggle AOD and put it into Smart Stack, otherwise there’s a high chance my launch day S8 won’t last through the day with my regular workout schedule.

I have an automation that turns on cinema mode, switches always on to off and sets my watch face to night mode, this comes on every night and off in the morning, that helps a lot

I turned mine off just because I don’t feel it’s necessary when you can just wake the screen. I have the S9 not the ultra though so the impact on my battery is probably greater.
