😡Got Apple email last night: Thank you for subscribing to Apple TV+. We wanted to let you know about upcoming change to subscription. Apple is raising price of this subscription from $69.00 per year to $99.00. Subscription will automatically renew for $99.00 per year starting December 21 unless you cancel at least day before.
I get Apple gift cards with credit card points and use those for my subscriptions so I don’t have to lay out cash. Currently Apple gift cards are on ‘sale’ for a lower redemption rate on some Chase cards that let you use points for gift cards. I did the same with Hulu a year or so ago but haven’t seen those gift cards recently.
Every time I go to renew, I end up buying a qualifying device a month or so later. I can never win. 😀
Where are the qualified devices list? I bought a MBP, iPhone 14, iPhone 15P and wasn’t offered anything…
While buying an eligible Apple device no longer gets you 12 months of Apple TV Plus for free, it still gets you a lot of time. Right now, with the purchase of an eligible device — including iPhones, iPads, Apple TVs or Macs, you can get three months of Apple TV Plus for free.
All you have to do to claim your subscription is set up your device and open the Apple TV app. You should be presented with the offer right away, but if not, you’ll see it on the Apple TV Plus tab. Just remember to redeem the Apple TV Plus offer within 90 days of setting up or you’ll miss out on your free trial.
People pay for Apple TV+? I’ve got 6 month free offers coming out of my ears from various other products I’ve paid for
Cancelled mine went from Apple Premier to just Apple Music now their price increase cost them over $30 per month from my family
It’s still under $10 a month right? It will keep going up as more content is added. Isn’t Netflix like $20+ a month?
Personally, I’ve been frustrated with the percentage increases of all of the streaming services this year. Not because I can’t afford it, but rather due to the idea of supporting such large increases by blindly renewing.
Thus, I adopted the monthly activation strategy others here have discussed. That is, I canceled all my services and will activate for a month when I see a new season of a series released. After watching the series, I will deactivate the service for a few months, or until the new season is released.
I realize that this means nothing to these companies, but it makes me think I’m doing something.
I was searching the internet to find some way to save on these costs & affirmation, doing the monthly and binging sounds the way to go just hope the shows are released completely, otherwise have to wait until they are.
I do this too, but it’s a bit trickier for Apple One subscribers. Not a whole lot of wiggle room when your family is depending on the top-tier iCloud storage.
Agreed.
OP, what is the point of using percentages? Why not just say what the price increases is in dollars and say the current price and the new price.
I pay for Apple One so it really doesn’t matter for me. These other streaming services though, I let go of Netflix and Max. I have Prime for free.
TV+ is a bargain at $9.99 and was a steal at $4.99. Perhaps the best hit ratio of all the streaming platforms.
When they had few programs, they had to charge less than the others.
That’s what being in a walled garden gets you you.
