I hope rants are allowed on r/apple… didn’t see anything about it in the rules.

My iOS keyboard has new behavior since a few days ago. I have most of the QOL features turned off because I sometimes mix different languages, use abbreviations and sometimes need to communicate scientific names/concepts that aren’t saved in dictionaries. I do like the “predictive” option because it saves me from typing commonly used words. Apparently there is now an auto-fill feature that is grouped with the predictive keyboard option. So, if I type “Backe” (german for cheek) but iOS thinks the most likely word I am writing is “backed” it will automatically add a “d” when I hit space.

I

HATE

THIS

Please for the love of god put all the auto-correct / auto-format / auto-fill / auto-bulls*** options separately from the other QOL options. Predictive text options IS NOT the same as typing things automatically for me. It should never be combined.

Anybody else experiencing this frustration? Does anybody have a workaround? I have never really experimented with custom keyboards before but maybe I should.

This feature is the only thing i hate about the keyboard on iOS compared to Android. Its also driving me insane how many times i have to go back and fourth to edit a sentence and sometimes delete a message entirely i sendt

100% agree. Truly nothing in this world infuriates me like when I correctly type something and iOS “corrects” it for me into something I never intended to type

Am I the only one that’s had this happen for years? At least the “Backe” turning to “Backed” when you hit space has happened and annoyed me since I started using iPhone a few years ago

Mine makes me seem like I’m unstable. Every time I type “hah”, implying ‘that gave me a small chuckle’, it changes to “hahahahah”. “I’ve locked myself outside” “Oh, I’ll come let you in hah” becomes “I’ll come let you in hahahahah”

The new keyboard is just terrible. In Italian one of the most used functions of the keyboard is suggesting accented words, since adding accents is such a bother on mobile keyboards.

The new keyboard almost never suggests them now, basically halving my typing speed

As a guy in Japan, same.

Obviously it’s not a problem when I’m typing in Japanese, but I frequently use Japanese words in English… because I live in Japan.

    Names make me absolutely insane.

Imo, the keyboard in IOS broke two or three years ago with the update and hasn’t ever gotten better.

I can’t explain it, but I feel with that iOS update, I noticed a considerable increase in the amount of typos I was making in a way I had never experienced before and I’ve been in iPhones since the 4.

IOS keyboard has always been giving me an eye twitch after using SwiftKey for years. It’s so shitty it would take me a few paragraphs to even begin describing what’s wrong with it. Utter garbage.

For the first time since I’ve had an iPhone, I’ve had to turn off auto correct. I just can’t stand the changes, it keeps getting worse and those blue lines were the straw that broke me.
