It took a 5 year streak of smooth sailing for me to finally experience an issue with gaming on linux. I really was “in the middle of something” with Hunt Showdown and was forced to take drastic measures to be able to play it again. Since it starting working in February it really has become my all time favorite game. It has been working great for months until last week. I was deep into this event going on, I put hours and hours and HOURS into reaching the end of it got so many rewards and I was nearing its completion. When I woke up to do my last runs to finish it I updated to find the game didn’t work anymore. It has been nearly a week now and there are only 10 days left in the event, with no sign that it will be fixed. I had to install and use another operating system to play the game so I could finish the event in time, I had no choice if I wanted to continue playing. The game also just went on sale a few hours ago and is still marked “Deck Playable”, I expect they will get an influx of refunds.
This is the first time in 5 years where I cannot say “everything I’ve ever wanted to do on Linux just works out the box.” I can finally say there was at least 1 time where I had an issue. I’m just really really bummed about it man.
You went five years gaming on Linux without encountering a single issue?
it was fixed !
It’s working again. https://www.reddit.com/r/linux_gaming/s/XuD0quZpHF
Dude, Hunt Showdown already fixed this. The Proton support was accidentally removed, and now it’s been added back. Maybe wait a couple days next time before you make a post like this, because I’m pretty sure it was fixed before you even made this post, and if not, it was fixed almost immediately after.
