Why $500 you may ask? Times are tough for many people and although a lot of money to many people I think its good amount to buy a decent timepiece. Especially if you’re looking to buy on budget, your first investment or something for yourself or a loved one.

R/Watchexchange has lots of cool stuff. Fabulous vintage Omega for under $400, cool vintage hand wound watches under $100. I got a chronograph for $375 and several Seiko Lord Quartz watches for under $200 each.

Maybe Tissot PRX or a Seiko?

Do not, do not, do not think of watches as “investments.” Watch depreciation patterns are remarkably similar to that of cars.

I repeat: watches are a terrible investment, and “watches as an investment or business” is a foolish idea.

Perhaps not a popular opinion around here but…. Having handled mostly sub 500 watches, a few sub 1000 and one genuine submariner, my favourite is my Cronos submariner. I know it’s not an original design, but it’s just a crazy good watch. And less than 300 dollars

Hard to beat an all gold casio, it’s so retro cool and eye catching I’ve gotten more compliments on it than my actual gold watches.

    50 bucks on Amazon.

But more in line with the 500, probably something from Seiko or Stowa. Maybe a Junghans max bill.

I bought a Squale Montauk earlier this year for a little over 500$. Killer Watch for the price.
