I am waiting for this! i thought he wouldn’t! thanks he changed his mind!
Stephen king is a political genius and should run for office
Yes, please.
The first one is my favorite book of all time
I read Black House again 10 years ago but have not read The Talisman since 1985. May be time for a second look.
If you (or anyone seeing this) haven’t read it yet, Fairy Tale has a very similar vibe. Can really recommend it.
Oh god no.
I never finished the sequel, is it worth revisiting?
I read The Talisman as a young teen, and it deeply disturbed me (I really liked it though). The magical stuff was scary and so was the real stuff (the the vulnerability of a child on their own to abusive adults), and the way the two worlds and fears were combined creeped me out!
I cannot say anything about the sequel other than I read it twice, which I rarely do. I liked it.
Finally got around to The Talisman after letting it sit on my shelf for years. One of the better fantasy/adventure books I’ve checked out, and I really liked how every beat of the story developed the main character in a kinetic and logical way.
I’ve heard the second installment is either much better or much worse depending on who you ask… I’m excited to dig into it.
I thought The Talisman was better, but Black House was still good. I recommend it, but probably should reread the first one if it has been awhile.
The Talisman is my favorite King book but I hope he ‘finds’ any further Talisman novels as unpublished dark Bachman manuscripts.
I don’t want another Fairy Tale.
King, do it for Peter, please
Saw the article when it came out a couple of months ago, and since then I’ve read The Talisman. Black House is next on the list. I hope sai King completes the thing.
I do too but damn, I was so disappointed in Fairyland, 60% and then did not bother to skim which was a first for me.
I feel like he set that up for a sequel, because that sex scene right before the hero left probably gave the hero a heir.
Is Talisman the one where the main character befriends a werewolf (or something) in another dimension then they come back to here/now, go to a movie theatre and the werewolf falls in love with the smell of popcorn only to then completely freak out when they put put fake butter on it? (I think he says something like, why are they putting piss on it?)
I read it in high school (so late 80s),I don;t remember much of it.
You are 100% correct. I’m rereading it right now and I just read that part last night.
“I want some of that white stuff, please. But none of the pee. “
Yep! Best book ever!
Straub and King were writing Floating Dragon and IT respectively without being aware of the other’s project (both tales about small towns cursed by evil both supernatural and manmade). They were really on the same page.
This article is more than 3 months old.
You could probably chart King’s output against the availability of cocaine in the local area
Yea Bob
