“Ederson, Nathan Ake, Sergio Gomez, Rodri, and Erling Haaland were all back in ManCity training today after respective injury/fitness issues.”

Did anyone not see this coming? Seems it’s a regular occurrence where City players will say they are “injured” to miraculously recover in a week after getting to fly back early.

Do they not have the rule anymore about not being able to play for your club after missing an international, if the international FA kick up a fuss?

On the flip side, Gabriel Jesus missed the last month for Arsenal with an injury, was still named in the Brazil side and played 90 minutes vs the World Champions. So… thanks to Brazil for helping our player regain his match fitness on his way back from injury I guess.

Another reason internationals are wank. Just sack the qualifiers off and have a huge death match tournament until the groups

The way this sub creatively finds another thing to complain about City is remarkable

Ederson received treatment during last game against Chelsea and Ake was not in the squad for the last game. Erling went for international duty and suffered a slight injury in the second last game for Norway. Sergio Gomez was not in the squad for last two city games. Rodri is the only player who might have avoided international duty for an already qualified team saying he was injured and his injury was reported as muscle discomfort. But to some it’s bald fraud’s tricks.

Becoming a pattern that you can’t get more than a few sentences into a conversation about City before one of the people exposes that they don’t know what they’re talking about.

Ederson - was clearly injured against Chelsea, and why send him across the world to recover when he’s not going to play for Brazil anyway? Ake and Gomez - injured long before the international break so not relevant at all Haaland - played in the first game and clearly did something to his ankle, only missed the second because it was meaningless and you’d be crazy to risk a player with a knock in a dead rubber (this is true of all teams and managers and always has been) Rodri - played pretty much the full game against Georgia, coming off with less than 10 mins to go. His injury concern happened after that game and the post is only to reassure City fans that he’s OK.

On the flip side, Liverpool players on international duty have been flourishing, scoring lots of goals. City players might be fresher, but Liverpool players will arguably be sharper.

Tottenham always seem to do it backwards. Lo Celso out injured for 6 months and his first game back is with Argentina. Or Bentancur literally just did that. His first start after a long injury was against Argentina.

Liverpool have done it for years under Klopp and I don’t blame them one bit. If I had crucial games coming up I’d be in players’ ears telling them they aren’t guaranteed a game if they fly around the world to play two pointless games within a week.

I’ve said in another comment that no player should do it out of respect for their own country. I can’t think of the time Liverpool players have done it but if they have it’s the same sentiment.

What do you think the Gravenberch beef with the Netherlands national team is? He refused a call up and they’re excluding him now.

Probably that even when he did go as part of the squad he wasn’t played so was a waste of time. His best chance to get in the squad was probably get up to speed with Liverpool then try and compete.

I think there’s a difference between being a starter and important part of the team Vs a rotation player that’s never played. Gravenberch hasn’t made an appearance for Netherlands since 2021. There’s clearly something else there that isn’t just about fitness

Tsimikas literally missed the game against France to be fit to play against City. Sure he didnt fake an injury, but like another commenter said here, it’s not like they’re fooling anyone. It’s a non-issue and a weird thing to fixate about, and I say that as a Red

There are lots of injuries that are bad enough to keep you out of a game but canbe recovered from in 3 - 4 days…
