Wanted to start a new hobby and vinyl seemed like a good place to go. After doing research here and on YouTube I landed on the Fluance RT85. Set up was easy, even for a beginner. Purchased a few records as well and I’m already hearing little parts of songs I’ve never heard before, excited for what’s to come. Equipment list: Fluance RT85 Marantz SR5015 KEF R5 & R2c Emotiva BasX a3 Subwoofer: dachshund
For a puppers, I’m surprised you can change the record without opposable thumbs, very talented.
Hey! One reccomendation from me would be to isolate that center from the media center. A 20$ foam center channel base will do the job and make a huge difference
Think your imagination has gotten the better of you, especially with music that has allot going on! Needle response has its limits…most of the purest views on music equipment sound is some purest imaginary view that when asked to tell the differance in a scientifically controlled environment the differences are inaudible when the control of swing or knowing what your listening to has been removed…but go ahead and listen to your synthesized upmixed digital music on your record player and enjoy hearing a differance between that and any other lossless music format you listen too! I allways love to here the way it was intended to sound because I’ve heard things like the page being turned in the middle of a song in a studio from music that was recorded before the capabilities of today so I dont really think the way it was meant to sound by the artist is anything you really know to be true or not! And especially in car audio are the purest bat nuts crazy with there stereo ideology, allot of music was recorded and meant to be played with front and rear channels with a left and a right!! Anyhow enjoy your audiophile hobby
How’s the subwoofer sound if you plug the port?
Definitely let’s out a high pitched sound!
Is that a talking dog? With a Reddit account?
That kinda looks like a weiner dog but congratulations!
That was my first as well. I really liked it and it gave me the ability to very easily try new carts while I was learning what I enjoyed. Excellent choice.
Thanks! Definitely impressed with it so far

“Where it’s at! Got two turntables and a Wiener Dog…” “Where it’s at! Got two turntables and a Wiener Dog…”
Wow… I have the R11s, but we have practically the same setup.
R11s are beautiful, wish I had the budget for them
I was going to say, “hey, don’t put the turntable on the same surface as a speaker”, but then I realised it’s fine as long as you’re not in ‘All Ch. Stereo’ when playing records. So, don’t mind me, I’m just having a molasses brain day.
My OG setup was a Marantz Receiver and KEF towers (Qs, because I couldn’t spring for Rs at the time). Still have the KEFs. They make a great speaker. Looks like you’re all set!
Also, yes, excellent dog, would pat.
Besides putting the receiver on the phono input, do I need to change any other settings?
It should default to Stereo, which will just output to the front L&R speakers, maybe your sub.
Marantz typically have 3 modes that might apply for phono - Stereo (2 channel with some processing), Direct (whatever channels on the input are output unprocessed, other than phono stage stuff in the case of the phono input), and Pure Direct (same as direct, but all the video circuitry is turned off also).
All Channel Stereo, and potentially some of the surround modes (Neo: whatever) may create a centre channel out of the existing stereo signal and output it through that centre speaker, which you don’t want. Basically, if there’s no audio on the centre when you play a record, that setting is fine.
From memory, the receiver should remember the processing mode last used for each input.
There’s usually a direct / 2 channel setting where there’s no processing or upmixing. that’s all he means. id imagine the phono preset on a marantz does this automatically
Frosted mini weens…
Welcome to the party, pal.
Glad to be here, friend
Great front stage!! What’s the rest of the room?
Living room has a weird seating arrangement, don’t have a way to evenly put surround speakers unfortunately
I had the same problem - no way to run wires and no space at the front for the sub. I bought a transmitter/receiver-amp combo for the rears and sub. Works well.
Dog for scale.
