Music or movie, what do you first reach for when showing someone what you’ve sunk all your money into?

Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit. Their album “The Sound of Nashville” has a great country orchestra behind his vocals. The master has a lot of depth and pleasing bass and crisp highs. My personal favorite.

Anonymous Love - Ray Charles, album “True to Life”

Heavenly Music - Ray Charles, the following track off the same album

Rocky Mountain Way - Joe Walsh, album “The Smoker You Drink, the Player You Get”

Sir Duke - Stevie Wonder, album “Songs in the Key of Life”

Doing the cliché Fleetwood Mac takes, or DSotM, or King Crimson are great because they’re timeless for a reason, but those first four mentioned are also engineered incredibly well.

With my Sennheiser HD800s, I’d always start with Everything In It’s Right Place (Radiohead).

To everyone saying “ask what they want to hear” there’s a level of truth to that, but there’s also a reason every TV store has demo reels purposely put together to showcase the TV’s strengths. OLED TV’s are going to show a lot of dark/black scenes. If someone watches The Office on an OLED they’re not going to see it’s full capabilities. Sometimes what people want to see/hear may not show the full potential of the equipment. If the goal is to ‘show off’ it makes sense to show what the equipment does best, even if the person is unfamiliar with it.

I go straight to Blue Planet 4k Atmos. Or any of the “Planet” shows in the same quality.

I don’t show it off… It’s for me to enjoy and I have no reason or desire to show it to anyone else. I don’t really want people around my system either.

Any Colour You Like from Pink Floyd to show off stereo separation

The climax of Exit Music for a film is amazing to show off bass and mids and just how music on good speakers can completely envelope you
