I use Grayjay on my MNT Laptop (arm64) in Linux through Waydroid. A native client would be better but the solution with Android emulation works a treat. No issues.

Some posts seem to not be retrievable, yet they exist when you follow the canonical links and the Lemmy instances aren’t blocvked.

Well, the overall score was reflected on those original posts piefed.social mirrored by itself. So it did work at least once. It’s those extra posts I forced Piefed to retrieve manually that all came with the default score of 1.

Like I said, it doesn’t really matter. But ideally when I finally decide to relocate the communities, I’d like the Piefed copies to be identical. But the scoring is not important: what I really care about is the content and that made it across, now that I finished the retrieve job manually. So it’s all good.

It’s almost as if rich Republicans were terrible people…

EDIT: I’m retrieving posts from the original SDF community one by one (good thing it’s a small community with low bandwidth 🙂) and I notice that, while the posts appear, the original downvotes/upvotes aren’t. copied over. I don’t really care, but I figured I’d mention it.

Food pedants aren’t gullible. They know full well water isn’t worth anything like the price it’s sold when it’s bottled. But they’re pedants: it’s their job to look sophisticated. They literally make a living out of talking bullcrap about food.

As for automatic deletion of older posts…this is something that a piefed admin can do on a community by community basis. When it is turned on for a community, that retention policy is listed in the community sidebar. For instance, if you look at the sidebar of !anime@ani.social, you will see that posts are retained on piefed.social for 365 days.

Okay then it’s fine. I was afraid it was a compulsory thing. I wouldn’t consider importing my Lemmy communities on Piefed if it forgot old post.

Pulling in those 50 posts works most of the time but sometimes, for unknown reasons, it fails and only some posts get mirrored.

Okay. Well I was just curious. I suppose all the posts will show up after I migrate the community over here.

That’s where you’ve been had. Trump doesn’t think. He says any old shit that goes through his deranged mind at any given moment, even if it makes no sense or contradicts what he said 5 minutes earlier.

Coherent thinking is done for him by other people - namely the Federalist Society and the Heritage Foundation. Those particular sonsabitches never wanted a pedo president, nor do they want anything declassified. But Trump is the best fascist racehorse they could find in 50 years, so they put up with his shenanigans.

I’m old enough to remember spotting Michael Jackson’s first album in an obscure record store in SF and wondering if this guy was any good, and I’ve always knows rich people pay less taxes than working stiffs. In fact, I’m almost certain that’s where the idiom to get stiffed comes from.

I also don’t remember a time when I haven’t thought the next time I come across a rich prick, if he’s enough of a prick, I might just slit his throat for the sheer satisfaction of doing it.

If you went through school without learning anything, it means you’re a normal person.

Don’t worry too much. What you need from your school is a degree, not an education. You do your own education. The degree doesn’t mean you know anything: it only tells your employer you were patient and dogged enough to sit through boring classes and terrible teachers all the way through.

That’s the real value for your future boss: they like someone who can withstand and survive the idiocy of the workplace. You getting your degree is reasonable proof that you won’t be a snowflake and leave them hanging when the going gets a little tough.

But make no mistake: you know nothing out of school. Nobody does. All employers know that. The best you can hope to get out of school is the ability to learn all the rest quickly after you’re hired.

Yeah clearly a Lemmy problem, even when posting directly from Lemmy.The whole manual thumbnail URL thing is clearly a workaround for when the automatic thumbnailer is deficient.

But as a mere user, my aim is to make posts that are correct and somewhat appealing. So I work with what I have 🙂

Indeed the video shows up fine in Piefed. What I meant was the view from Lemmy is devoid of thumbnail. For instance, my Youtube post seen from Sopuli:

When I said it was a dealbreaker for me, it’s because I (usually) always try to make posts with a thumbnail to make them more attractive on Lemmy. Even if it’s just a question, I’ll upload a picture to illustrate what I want to say, and then write whatever I want to write in the body.

I find it nicer to offer a visual clue in all my posts. But when you look at my Piefed Youtube video from Lemmy, the thumbnail it’s just a bleak arrow on a bleak background. Not super appealing.

So I guess what I meant was that I want to manually supply a thumbnail URL for the benefit of Lemmy viewers.
