When people voted for Brexit on the grounds of restoring the country’s sovereignty, I very much doubt that they had in mind it being used to benefit nine vast shipping lines.
If they manage to sway the current government it will not be in the favour of the general consumer. It will result in a cartel if not an actual monopoly on shipping and with it direct price control.
It would be myopic to concede to their requests.
Feels like this may incidentally be a map of countries with national healthcare and unbiased reporting of tooth decay? There does seem to be a fairly strong correlation.
