If you read the nihongo (japanese), it says its supposed to look like seals (not taste like them). Guessing this is from an aquarium giftshop or something.
I hereby propose during the Next Cycle, we switch to: Really Really Free Markets
“Praying Barbie” 😭 ROFL
FundMECFS@quokk.auto MeanwhileOnGrad@sh.itjust.works•Banned from memes.ml for posting image of Xinnie the Pooh in a discussion of how it's only western propaganda to claim it's banned in China?English4·5 hours ago“If you do not accept the Han Chinese settler colonial ethnostate, you are a sinophobe.”
Is the exact same logic as “If you do not accept the Jewish Zionist settler colonial ethnostate, you are anti-semetic”.
Criticising a state project does not equal criticism of the ethnic group in it. This is bad faith false equivalence used by MLs.
Also People:
Let me install bee boxes with hundreds of thousands of invasive bees to harvest honey.
(which will obviously end up outcompeting the native ones)
and then suprised pickachu face when the natives do indeed decline after you add hundreds of thousands of invasives.
FundMECFS@quokk.auto Mildly Interesting@lemmy.world•Elon Musk just opened a restaurant in Los Angeles. This is the menu.English47·6 hours agoImagine being the richest person on earth and best you can come up with for a new restaurant is the most boring menu at ridiculous prices.
Edit: To be fair tho, gonna need a source on this. Since OP hasn’t provided a link or anything.

And if you need more use RiseUpVPN. But note it is slow. And that its completely free and volunteer run. It’s the kind of thing that if you get an income you should probably donate to if you used a lot. It’s mainly used by activists in authoritarian countries.
I’m so fucking jealous of Randall Monroe. They’ve got the coolest job.

Chatgpt will talk to me about dismantling the state if I tell it to be anarchist while Gemini will lecture me about a “extremist ideology”
FundMECFS@quokk.auto Data is Beautiful@mander.xyz•Republicans and Democrats don't get their news from the same sourcesEnglish3·1 day agoThere isn’t much if you’re interested in like Party Politics and State Relations.
But there is actually quite a rich layered news that centers people instead of institutions. I’ll send you two ones that are explicitly anarchist. Obviously, I’m not saying one needs to only read them, but adding them into the media diet can be quite nice.
There are some decent in between sources as well. See maybe Propublica or Jacobin.
I think unbiased sources don’t exist. Everything is giving you a perspective. And having perspectives that aren’t elite coded or pro-status quo coded can be really valuable.
:)
FundMECFS@quokk.auto NonCredibleDiplomacy@sh.itjust.works•North Korea and South Korea isn't working. Let's try West Korea and East Korea instead.English2·1 day agoFor context to those curious red is the Democratic Party of Korea (broadly liberal, “centrist”) and blue is the People Power Party (neoliberal-conservative).

FundMECFS@quokk.auto Data is Beautiful@mander.xyz•Republicans and Democrats don't get their news from the same sourcesEnglish31·2 days agoNPR and The AP are both run by the liberal elite. They covertly reinforce the status quo (even if just by story selection), and perhaps sometimes subtly endorse small reforms. So they end up working in part to maintain the current order (read heirarchies).
Fox News, Newsmax are straight up run by oligarchs as overt propaganda tools to reinforce heirachies.
There are no anti-heirarchical or anti-establishment sources in this graph of what people in the US read. (Unless you count News Max as anti-establishment, but it’s more anti-liberal elite establishment pro-oligarch establishment so I would still classify it as pro-establishment).
