  • I’ve lurked on Jomashop’s site on and off for a few years. I finally bought a watch from them last week. Glycine Combat 6 Vintage auto for $249.99, plus 10% off.

At the time I thought maybe I should wait until Black Friday or cyber Monday, because they’d most likely have a better price. Pulled the trigger anyway because they claimed limit stock. The Black Friday and cyber Monday price - $284.05 lol. I was looking at a few other Glycine, Tissot, Hamilton and Mido watches too. Many of the ones I was looking at are more expensive now than when I was initially looking at them. A few are the same price.

Don’t fall for “sales.” If you want it now, get it now by all means. But don’t snatch it up thinking it’ll never be cheaper.

All that being said, people have had complaints about them. They’ve pretty much all been customer service related. Issues with the shipper messing up and Jomashop immediately washes their hands of it, their in-house warranty being bad, things taking way too long to ship, etc. They’re selling genuine stuff, not fakes. If you’re buying from them, make sure it’s in stock and doesn’t say “ships in X days.”

I didn’t have any issues with them. I ordered in the evening and I got shipping and tracking information the next morning. It arrived on time and in perfect condition. I’m in NYS and they’re in NYC, so that helps vs internationally.

  • My brother in law bought a Rolex Daytona a few months back. I think he paid around $15k. It’s a very nice watch. I tried it on. I definitely felt and saw the quality of it regardless of the Rolex name recognition and expectations.

That being said, I wouldn’t spend the money on it. I know Rolex’s heritage, craftsmanship, etc. If I had the choice between given that or a Moonwatch, and I couldn’t sell either one, I’d take the Moonwatch any day.

And I don’t know what it is, but with very few exceptions I think the higher end to the highest end watches are ugly. I saw more than my fair share of them in stores and in the wild while living in Westchester County, NY and Greenwich, CT.

  • People have had their problems with them. It’s the only thing I’ve bought from them and didn’t have a single issue. And my warranty card is stamped. I’m not sure if Jomashop has another name they go by and are an authorized Glycine dealer or if the authorized dealer they bought it from stamped the card. I’ll figure that stuff out if/when I need warranty service.

Ashford is an authorized Glycine dealer. Their prices are a little higher, but they’ve got a far better Glycine selection. I haven’t bought from them either, but I haven’t heard anything bad about them. I haven’t really heard much about them, so take it as you will.

If Ashford had the one I bought and was around the same price, I’d have bought from them. But I didn’t have any issues with Jomashop, so I’d do business with them again. It helps that they an I are in NYS, as there’s no chance of international shipping issues, it’ll get here in a few days at most, etc.

Jomashop allegedly sells nothing but authentic stuff. I’ve never heard anyone complain about that. The complaints I’ve heard are all customer service issues. Shipper damaged/lost something and they quickly wash their hands of it, bad warranty work or denying warranty work (they carry their own warranty); stuff like that.

  • Just got a Combat 6 Vintage yesterday. My first Glycine. Very impressed with the quality and comfort. Quality is on par with my Hamilton field auto. Held side by side, I’d say the Hamilton is a little better, but it could be my bias.

No brainer for the $250 I paid for it from Jomashop. If someone else had it and told me it was a $700 watch, I’d believe them. I’m seriously considering the Combat Sub as my next watch. I don’t have and always wanted a Submariner style diver.
