2·13 hours agoRight there with you. Section 31 kind of hit a so-bad-it’s-good again for me. And even Nemesis has the very cool space battle scene.
I could do without Enterprise Season 3, but it’s also not like I’m skipping it during a rewatch!

2·13 hours agoHuh? Professionalism isn’t a quantifiable property. It’s also not objective. If someone works with Ake in a professional capacity and considers her to be a professional, then she is. To claim otherwise is illogical.

3·2 days agowhat’s up with Captain Ake being…extremely unprofessional?
Uh, are we watching the same show? She seems to have the complete and total respect of those around her, including Dadmiral and even the bad guy.

Piracy: ꜱᴀɪʟ ᴛʜᴇ ʜɪɢʜ ꜱᴇᴀꜱ@lemmy.dbzer0.com•Richard Stallman Was Asked: Is Software Piracy Wrong?English
20·2 days agoNo a pro-piracy argument, but most artists get fractions of a penny from the sales of media anyway. Only the biggest stars are paid a fair share of the profits. I always try to find a way to support directly or use a platform (bandcamp, steam) that adds some value and gives a majority to the creator.

We all like checking out the latest features and updates but it’s important to remember that it’s not a race.

Privacy@lemmy.ml•What is you guys opinion on DuckDuckGo AI?English
201·2 days agoFrom ArsTechnica:
According to DuckDuckGo, chats on the service are anonymized, with metadata and IP address removed to prevent tracing back to individuals. The company states that chats are not used for AI model training, citing its privacy policy and terms of use.
“We have agreements in place with all model providers to ensure that any saved chats are completely deleted by the providers within 30 days,” says DuckDuckGo, “and that none of the chats made on our platform can be used to train or improve the models.”
So there is some trust involved, but I’m inclined to believe DDG.

Yes Lemmy has a lot of improving to do, but I’m not seeing many other alternatives!

12·3 days agoI disagree that having a variety of UIs is a bad thing. I wouldn’t want every instance to look like dbzero! It also highlights that Lemmy is not a single platform, it’s a federation of them. Heck even reddit has two UIs!

It’s my understanding that anything doing this would also need to also emulate Chromecast, since the “cast” buttons inside the Amazon Prime/Netflix/Spotify/etc apps uses the proprietary Chromecast protocol.
