Banning books from adults is obviously dumb, but restricting access to specific books from children is logical when it’s done at the individual parent’s discretion. Not all books are good, some are even potentially dangerous, and not all good books are adapted for all ages.

Properly curating which books your children are exposed to is just as important as a parent as curating which other pieces of media or even which individuals they are exposed to.

I get taking a hard stance against propaganda pieces of all sorts within the school system when they’re pushed by teachers and administrators, religious or otherwise, but this is a public library.

If you want to play the authoritarian about the books your kid rents from a public place, then maybe you should just do your job as a parent and monitor them?
