Been playing this series again these past few weeks.
They all hold up beautifully.
I wish we would get a new game in the same vein as the latest Street Fighter…
Hi there, my name is Andy, I’m from Belgium.
I spend most of my free time digitising and restoring classic video game magazines, mostly from the UK.
I’ve been doing this for over 20 years now and I’m here to share my passion for these magazines with others.
I love to read and talk about gaming memories from years gone by.
My main hobbies are gaming, both modern and retro gaming, as well as Japanese, South Korean and classic Hong Kong cinema.

Oh, for sure!
It’s a super simple concept but it’s great fun.
A bit like a mix of a classic golf game and Arkanoid, poured into a billiard game.
The physics are really basic since it’s 8-bit, but just like with Pin.Bot that doesn’t take anything away from the game, but instead adds a ton of charm to it when you start getting into it.
Speaking of Arkanoid, check out Crackout on NES as well if you haven’t already. Another super underrated game.

Despite completing both Illusion of Time and Terranigma back in the day when they released, it’s been so long ago that I don’t remember much of them, let alone the intricacies of item properties.
So I’m afraid that I’m not much help there. 🫤

There’s truly something special when looking at magazines that needed to take actual pictures of crt tvs back in the day.
Mean Machines fotos are also incredible in this regard. 😊

Same here.
I got Resident Evil day one, but somehow missed out on this.
Still haven’t played it…

I always forget about this game, until I come across an article and then go: I really want to play this one day. I should get a copy.
Then I get a little confused and look up my games list.
It turns out that I got it in 2019 with a see-through blue Japanese N64 with 17 unboxed games for €120 from someone not that far from me. 😅
My original Japanese one has had some modding done I think. So the picture is rather dark, which is why I wanted an original one.

I’m not quite sure about all the changes, but I believe they had to make certain maps smaller and even added a couple maps, but perhaps remove others?
I’m sure there are in-depth videos on all of this.
It’s a bit messy with those rebrandings for the west. But overall it’s pretty straight forward. 😅
I actually just rebought Puyo Puyo Sun on my PS3 as a PSone classic from the Japanese shop.
I have had it for nearly 25 years on Saturn, but it’s just convenient to have it on a somewhat modern system as well.
Still need to Pick up Puyo Puyon and Box on PSone as well.
Have the first one on Dreamcast, but again, convenience. ;)
@nazokiyoubinbou@urusai.social
Well, in the west we only know about Mean Bean Machine and Kirby’s Ghost Trap for the longest time.
Puyo Puyo 2 was originally released in the arcade with a Mega Drive and Game Gear port releasing soon after in Japan.
About a year later the game released on Saturn as well as PC-98 and was then ported to just about every system in existence.
The last port was on Switch under the Sega Ages label by M2 actually.
For the people who have not seen it, I highly recommend this incredible documentary on the game:

A fighting game, it was cancelled but got pretty far into development.

I got burned out on them after Uncharted 4 to the point where I haven’t played much of them at all until now.
Although I did enjoy the more compact Uncharted The Lost Legacy.
Kinda want to finally get back into them, although I think I’m gonna space them out more so I don’t get sick of them again.
@Dennis5891@mstdn.games
I actually never played this series despite hearing tons of people talk about it over the years.
@BigBlue@geekdom.social
Oh for sure!
I had so much fun with lightgun games on Wii.
My favourite has to be Ghost Squad.
But I’m also really fond of Gunblade NY & LA Machineguns.
To this day I’m still amazed that Sega released these games for the home market seemingly randomly.
@jezebelley64@mstdn.games
From what I’ve heard over the years they simply don’t see any return to their investment when looking at creating a new entry, which is a damn shame.
I wish it was different but very few big devs dare to take chances like that anymore.
Unrelated but the only Rival Schools game I ever played was the DC one.
Never really got into it, but bought the final PSone one on PS3 and I’m loving what I’m seeing from it.
