That’s some Daniel Snyder type shit right there. Any coach worth their salt would never put themselves in this position. The only coach that would accept a job with remnants of the old coaching in place would be someone young and unproven, in that case why not just go with Basacia. Not to mention how it looks for Basacia and his pride hanging around an organization that didn’t “think he was good enough” to stay the main guy. Funny thing is this kinda happened to me. I got a “battlefield promotion” to head up a division of the company that I worked for. After about a year they decided to go with someone else but kept me on as a “special consultant”. I think they kinda thought I would quit given the apparent “demotion” but I didn’t care because they paid me the same for about a 1/3 of the work and even gave me annual pay bumps. I left after 3 more years for a better run organization. The difference is that NFL coaches have a much more public profile and that is very important for getting that next job and continuing to move up the ranks.
