There was a joke my USAF friend told me. What’s the difference between Thais and Filipinos. The Thais will let you take a legit taxi to your hotel shit shower and eat and they’ll hustle you once you walk out the hotel doors. The Filipinos will hustle you from the airport.
Sad thing is I live in South Korea and a lotta the Filipinos hate Koreans yet they live in Korea? Don’t understand that logic.
I’m Korean American my wife is Thai and we live in South Korea now so I’m biased but as far as personal safety don’t go in there thinking you’re running s*%t cuz most violence against farangs is if a Thai person is doing something wrong they feel compelled to say something and their feeling is bitch you have no right to tell me what to do.
I know a USAF dude who didn’t want to learn the language so he went to the Phillipines cuz they speak English there he loved that he didn’t have to learn the language but he said the food was terrible.
Once Korean kids asked me if they were to marry a non Korean girl which country would be best.
My answer = if you can eat the girls country food everyday. So if you don’t like Vietnamese food don’t marry a Vietnamese girl.
As for me I’m flexible I can eat Korea (obviously) Japanese American American Chinese Mexican so I’m cool with that. Don’t know Vietnamese food well enough or Malay or Indonesian.
Back in the days when bush was running against gore I said if bush wins I’m leaving the country. Haven’t been back since.
