If you come from Windows or Mac and want to keep similar UI familiarity and ease of use then ZorinOS is pretty good. A friend of mine migrated away from Windows and installed Zorin OS core, choosing nvidia drivers during installation. They are very pleased with the experience so far.

1. Copy files to keep to cloud or other machine.
2. Prep usb drive with favorite OS installer (zorin, pop, mint, bazzite, fedora, nix, etc)
3. Boot into usb drive and wipe hard drive to put linux on it.
4. Copy desired files back onto your linux machine

Yeah agreed for most people migrating from Windows should be fine.

Ahh I see. Won’t the immutability impede work? I guess that depends on the type of work. But given OP is switching from Windows for first time it’s unlikely they’ll be wanting to mess that.

Bazzite isn’t well suited as a general purpose work + gaming machine.

From OP’s post it sounded like they want simple / not tweaking their OS so they can focus on gaming.

Agreed. By poor people I meant people who don’t have enough money to build a doomsday bunker on their own land that filters air and water from outside disease.

The antivaxers are just a catalyst to spread increasingly worse diseases until everyone not in a bunker dies.

I think that’s the goal the ultra wealthy elite want: Kill off all the poor people (non-billionares) by making a critical mass percentage of population anti-vax.

Meanwhile they themselves follow best medical practices while prepping their bunkers.

The trick is to tell them you’ve been using it more than they have and that it’s not as good as chatGPT for task A, but that for task B claude does okay 25% of the time so we’ll need to 4x the timeline in order to get a good claude output based on that expected value.

But not as good as your personal local LLM that you’ve been training on company data. No one else can use it because it’s illegal to clone. (your personal local LLM is your brain)

Managed to get a matrix server up + a web client frontend hosted on same site for friend group .

Great if you don’t care about voice, but if you do then you’ll need to host a TURN server on a VPS and connect home server to that.
