I’m very pro real books and as a result was hesitant to jump on the ebook bandwagon. That all changed after finishing a particularly large book early during a long trip, lugging those damn dead trees around the country for a while and unable to find anything worthwile to read in along the way. Now with my ebook any book and every book on my “to read” list taking up the same space, same weight, and I don’t worry about damaging them because the ebook is waterproof with a rugged cover.

I still buy hard to find and out of print books at used book stores, but those stay home and get gifted to special people when I’m done.

You’re so wound up about making your point and defending your point of view that you’re not actually comprehending my comments. It’s your map in the sense that you are presenting it to us, who authored it isn’t really relevant to this discussion.

Just pointing out the ridiculousness of getting petty and insulting about the way other people define time scales because you don’t agree. There is no objective truth here, just subjective opinions. ALL of those opinions and methods have flaws, especially your beloved “everyone should just use UTC”. There is no such thing as “correct” here, so putting that word in your map’s title and using “right” and “wrong” in this discussion is just naive.

We spend most of our year in daylight savings time. Standard time is the pretendy-magic-time.

This map really brings home how awful this projection is for this map’s purpose and how awful most projections really are near the poles. Greenland isn’t that big. I know this map is Plate Carree, not Mercator, but the size issue of an equirectangular projection is really similar when comparing longitude and size for the entire globe from pole to equator. 15 degrees of longitude for a timezone stops making sense that close to the poles. Greenland would mostly fit in the central time zone of the United States for example. Given its sparse population, dividing it up into 3 timezones seems unnecessary.

The Samsung gear watches all support Spotify offline playback. All the wearOS watches support as much local media playback as the hardware allows (I think), but managing that local library is pretty tedious and awful. Especially if like me you either listen through streaming services or streaming from a library of FLAC media on a NAS at home. With the Spotify app on my watch, I just select a playlist to be downloaded while I’m connected to WiFi and that’s it. It is not flawless though, sometimes the Spotify database or authentication gets fouled up and you’re unable to fix it until you return to WiFi. But I haven’t had many issues with it since Samsung switched away from their own bespoke watch OS to wearOS.

Most Americans could name at least one famous Waldo, Ralph Waldo Emerson. Okay maybe not most anymore, people are dumb, but if you said the name then the literate ones might know he was a poet. I don’t think I’ve ever met anyone named Wally or even heard of someone with the name, not even as a nickname.

Unfortunately, I’m afraid that IF Ryan Reynolds were to reprise the Green Lantern role, it would probably be way too close to being a noble Deadpool variant in green. That said, (hot take / spit-balling and probably dumb idea incoming) maybe what both comic universes need at this point to spice things up is more crossover events that aren’t just jokes. What if one of the Deadpools actually got a lantern ring somehow?

The details on some of those pointy ends would indicate otherwise. Probably just for fork like uses.

For running, I got a smartwatch that can store some music locally, so I don’t need to be connected to listen. Still not perfect, kind of a hassle to use, and doesn’t always work perfectly. Almost miss those tiny iPod nanos. I feel like portable dedicated music players have gone backwards in features and usability with the rise in popularity of perpetually connected Internet devices and streaming services.

Unfortunately, I’m your first comment and I’m going to disappoint a because I don’t have any specific recommendations. But I do have an idea.

If you’re looking for the Dan Browns and Stephen Kings of the Spanish and French languages, why not start with translations of those authors into those languages? This might be especially useful if you read a story that you’re already somewhat familiar with. A Spanish translation of “The Gunslinger” sounds like something I’d be interested in once my language skills improve.

Also, abridged versions of novels are often written with younger readers in mind, so an abridged version might be more accessible.

You’ve probably already done this and are looking for something more. I hope you get some better answers so I can check back here for recommendations too.

In some instances that may be reasonable. But, this could just be Vegan Pot Pie. Pot pie can be made out of lots of different things, almost all of them are mostly vegetable anyway. Searching isn’t really helped by adding ingredients to the title that aren’t actually in the dish. And if you were going the fake-meat route, it should be “Vegan-Chicken” as a compound word, not “Vegan Chicken”.
