1 year agoI know she’s been cancelled now but Enid Blyton’s Secret Seven and Famous Five. Used to read them from cover to cover in a day or two during some dreamy, halcyon summers at my grandparents’ home. I also found a James Herriot series there on his time as a vet in the Yorkshire Dales. Gerald Durrell’s My Family and Other Animals. Gorgeous writing. I probably made myself fluent in English by reading Lord of the Rings as teenager. The Silmarillion.
Thanks for making this post.
