1 year agoYes! They would keep the milk fresh in the creek. My teacher would read a chapter a day after lunch. I was so into it. When the chapter would end on a bit of a cliff hanger, I would get worried and ask her what happened. She always told me ❤️
My family bookshelf always had weird and scary books by guys that would try to predict the end times from the Bible and stuff. My uncle gave his copy of the Hobbit to my parents but they never read it. But I found it and did. That one was kinda the first “big” book I ever read. I still have that copy with his hand written dedication on it.
The boxcar children was one that my teacher read a little bit every day to us after lunch. I loved those. The magic of being transported by a book was outstanding.
