But yeah, saving a few % of weight and a few minutes fastcharging time should not make a simple battery repair such as a cell replacement much more difficult.

While abandoning nuclear power before coal was certainly a bad idea climatewise (i’m even with you calling this idiotic, thank you Merkel), coal is not more expensive than nuclear.

The 20 cent/kWh the french have on their electricity bill is not an honest price. The operator EDF is state owned and constantly loosing money the state then has to put in again, so the they also pay with taxes for their electricity.

Also the more renewables are in the mix the less economic nuclear becomes. Nuclear is good when it can run 24/7 but not when it has to constantly change its output or event has to be turned off during the day.

Coal is a fossil fuel. Gas is expensive atm because of the US/Israel war. Thats why they now want to use coal more. Its (a lot) worse for the climate, worse for health but cheaper. Actually quite capitalist of them…

I never said that, don’t strawman me. Also i do not defend billionaires. But climate change is not a billionaire problem. Framing it as such while the whole western world is living so much above anything sustainable is just self-righteous.

And of course some emissions are really hard/nearly impossible to avoid when living in such a society. I’m no angel in that regard too. Also it’s hard to keep the motivation up while so many of us don’t even acknowledge the problem or just don’t give a shit.

But in my mind there are certain things which are just plain “shitting on the future”: Flying is one of those. And after this summer i’m done not speaking it out.

Sorry i didn’t read carefully enough. Thanks for pointing that out. So there’s a huge difference between the UK “national rail” and the US “commuter rail” in carbon emission (35g vs 214g per km, which is not so great again*). I guess this is because the US rail is much less electrified and runs mostly on diesel. Also a national rail train will stop less (and have to accelerate again) than a commuter train.

As i mentioned in another post in this thread a round trip transatlantic flight is almost a full year of what one person can emit (if we share it equally) to limit the warning to 1.5°C.

What breaking this limit means is easy accessible information. (No its not the apocalypse but is is shit)
