The reason SAF was so controlling is because these are young men who have never experienced fame and money in the way football brings to them. Without proper discipline and structure the kids would go wayward, certainly not live up to the standards that he ended up getting them to. After identifying their potential at their pre-teens, SAF developed probably one of the most successful single group of footballers to ever play the game

The documentary never came across as him being irrationally controlling as much as him inculcating strict focus and discipline in the players while they developed into world class players. It is a small price to pay for the success that they achieved as a team

If City get docked points or their title revoked retroactively, wouldn’t that mean that you guys won it fair and square? Why would that not be agreeable to you?

United fan since mid 90s and even though I hated him because he was in Arsenal, it was an absolute joy to watch him play… very few football players have a legacy that plays through generations and across the world… Pele, Maradona, Messi, Ronaldo, Ronaldo, Zidane and maybe 8-10 more that I’m too lazy to type here… beyond them, the other players will have a legacy that carries on within their clubs and some others that last through the generation of fans that watched them and that’s it. You can’t get upset because some kids who’ve been watching the game for five years don’t appreciate sometime that they didn’t even watch playing
