    • Boot computer
    • Steam, emacs, evolution, newsflash, and web browser auto open
    • Check email
    • Check news
    • Cry
    • Go to dropout or nebula
    • Log onto Wurm Online/FFXIV/Whatever
    • Do something obnoxious in emacs that could probably be done elsewhere
    • Maybe tweak a config if it needs it. Haven’t needed to in a year tbh.
    • Shut down
    • Realize I forgot to update
    • Say I’ll do it tomorrow Like I’m on Arch but it’s a computer. I do computery things on it. Write my silly little stories that would traumatize a therapist. Do obscene things in video games.

I got really into customizing my system for a while, but now that it works I just leave it be, mostly. Most recent major change was my update command now spits out a list of packages, so if I need to reinstall I can just shove that into pacman

  • I… Jesus. I had a fucked up childhood, and I know more people who’ve had fucked up childhoods than most, and this one. Assuming it’s all true this one takes the goddam cake. I’d estimate my own situation is probably top 20%, yours is… Well. You made it to adulthood so it’s not the worst I’ve heard of.

While in general men (at least in America) tend to get some unsavory things drilled into them in their upbringing, violence being one of them, it’s not common for it to be this level. Being physical with your friends is normal. Violence to that degree is far less so, I’ve known, as far as I’m aware, no one who is up where your brother is. The most common issue I hear from most people with most men is like… Immaturity. Which, while not great, also is not even on the same plane as punching a cat to death.

  • Yuuup. I’ve helped train a lot of the current supervisors at my job, so they’re comfortable telling me about a lot of things. Plus I was being prepped to become a supervisor for a bit, and it’s… Not great, to say the least. I’ve seen people with hearts who’ve been changed a lot by management. Even worse when they go farther up the ladder.

For a while it wasn’t even about the money, since every position in the building paid the same. Moving up often came with a pay cut because of salary, and a different bonus structure. Kinda made me realize how little I wanted to be involved with any of it.

  • Quite frequently, at least given the language they use around some of it, they demonize it because they fetishize it. Given the general anti-sex bent (usually for Christianity-based reasons) of the far right, it’s a “temptation” they have to resist, which then puts the fault on the “tempter”, not the person with the fetish they can’t accept is fine to have.

I was raised in a conservative family, and one of the things that made me a whole lot better was that it’s fine to be into weird shit in bed. Not saying that’ll always be the case, but it is part of it. Some of it is just people who’re grossed out by feet thinking that it’s a moral failing to be into feet, some of it is people who’re into feet and feel guilty about it. Guilt, and shame do things to a person

  • I’d say a 3D one is good for most cases. Personal freedom, economic freedom, and political freedom, AKA the NationStates Non-Political compass.

Functionally, though, while it’s an easy visual I don’t necessarily know how useful political compasses are in general. One of my main gripes with the currently popular one is that it’s personal+economic freedom, and I don’t think there should be an economy at all[1]. I end up very lib left on it (something like -8,-8 or -9,-9) despite, again, not thinking economy is something that should even exist. Would that lean me more right on the economy, or left? Who’s to say! You’re not economically free if there is none, but also you’re as economically free as you want to be!

1: My political ideals are not how I vote, so I go as close as I functionally can.
