The Eight Mountains by Paolo Cognetti
The Eight Mountains by Paolo Cognetti
So if you read half the book today and the second half tomorrow, you read two books?
Upvote for Zweig. Haven’t read this one, sounds beautiful - thanks for taking the time to write down your thoughts!
I bet you would like this years Nobel laureate, Jon Fosse. I feel the same way about him in a couple of ways. The “is it all one book?” and also the way they make never ending sentences feel effortless and a joy to read. Try the short read The Trilogy for a quick taste.
Ok I’m here to say put it down. I absolutely hated it and I don’t understand why it’s so loved. I personally couldn’t stand this unbelievable charicature of a man (he’s 59, doesn’t know what a laptop is. Come on). I hated the constant supposed-to-be-funny similes.
I rarely put books down, but this is the kind that you know pretty fast if you like or not. Like Hitchhikers guide - if you haven’t smiled a single time for the first 3 pages, chances are you’re not going to enjoy it.
Boycotting artists because they don’t have an opinion (neutral) is some next level shit. Good luck finding any art whatsoever to enjoy.
Now we have the very non-boring consensus that Colleen Hoover beats the shit out of Virginia Woolf.
