I grew up in the country in the Midwestern US and have no clue what you’re referencing as far as potatoes and country folk go. Is this a regional thing?

I’m not subscribed here and yet I comment
My motto is “macOS/iOS on desktop/phone,” Linux on everything else. I’m a programmer by day but I don’t want to fight for all the features I take for granted in Apple’s walled garden.
Haters might hate, and I still love watching Linux development but I’m more into server/CLI stuff on Linux than I am trying to make Gnome/KDE/Wayland as seamless as macOS.
It’s hard to find anything in English but if your browser has translation Wikipedia has some information.
Though light on details I did find it very interesting. I’ve never heard of Star Flash.
I call mine “baby girl” because I know it’s fucking corny. I’ve never been into referring to cars as people, but I guess I’m a hypocrite now.
As a web application developer I agree. I believe my proper job title is “software developer” which is close enough, but I prefer to be concise when telling people what I do. Even if I do become an “engineer” I wouldn’t get caught saying that in social settings.
I have a cheap $20 1byone scale from Amazon but it’s actually fantastic.
Life hasn’t been thrilling overall but I suppose I’m proud of where I am professionally as a web application developer.
I’ve been at my current job for a handful of years now and I finally have some cred; I’ve used it to push a lot of structural changes to our codebase and cut down on lots of nonstandard / custom code as well as repetitive code blocks.
I’ll never drink New Amsterdam gin again. Don’t get me wrong, I love the stuff but I learned quick it’s the only alcohol that’s had me doing shady stuff like stealing someone’s bike, breaking into a car or pushing my friends around in a shopping cart in the streets at 3 AM.
I’ve drank to excess plenty of times in my younger days but never was I doing stuff like that. Something about that alcohol in particular is wild.
I’m a tech guy but also vegan and hate that I probably don’t do much for animals so:
I like them because both kind of kick ass at what they do.
I’d like to donate to the Humane Society but the local one is drowning in cash so I’d rather find one somewhere in the sticks (my hometown?) and donate to them.
Which rapist? Brock Turner or Allen Turner? In any case it’s clear we’re talking about a RAPIST
It doesn’t snow here ¯_(ツ)_/¯
I wish he’d eliminate standard time and keep daylight saving time.
I’d rather have permanent daylight saving here in SoCal, but in Arizona permanent standard time is great.
Hard agree but you and I will probably be downvoted into oblivion.
How many angry conversations are people having?
I think the simplest way is using Docker: https://codeberg.org/rimu/pyfedi/src/branch/main/compose.yaml
For me personally, I just tap the microphone and use voice assistant when I need to navigate somewhere or shoot off a text before I forget. Mine has the touchscreen that I don’t really use while driving. I’m also not a fan of taking calls in the car.
The point is that it’s very unnecessary to touch your phone at all — I don’t even take mine out of my pocket. So when people have all this tech and continue using their phone (physically) I’m like “wtf?”
Edit: I am however a fan of sharing my ETA via Apple Maps
Honestly I’m at the point where I just rent the discs and rip them losslessly (BDMV for movies, MKV for TV shows).
