eh, i think lanthimos’ films are usually shallow in terms of meaning. sure, there are themes that are explored but it never gets very deep. he literally said in response to questions as to why he made certain choices: “because i thought it was funny”. and i tend to believe him. i think he mostly just makes stuff for the fun of it and without much deliberation on what it might mean. and i like that.

now i am a fan of his stuff, bugonia however i did find to be a bit underwhelming. i enjoyed “kinds of kindness” a lot more.

apparently he had one more series in the works, although not related to twin peaks. anyway, i guess we’re lucky he did get to make so much stuff. i’ll have to catch up on everything soon

i guess there were rumors he was working on another season. and i suppose it was finished in a way, but the ending also felt to me like a setup for a completely new direction. but who knows. david lynch probably didn’t really think about a greater story arc anyway, didn’t seem like his process.
