Still reading Capital volume 1. Just finished chapter 4 and it felt like a complete breeze compared to the last two chapters (especially 3). But it’s been an enlightening experience. Reading David Harvey’s guide is helping as well - As well as Radhika Desai’s new capital lectures she’s uploading.

Also getting through Fanon’s The Wretched of The Earth. It’s been okay, some of the conclusions he reaches I think are circumstantial but it’s important to be able to understand the lived experiences of decolonization.

Immanuel Wallerstein’s introduction to worlds-systems analysis just came in the mail as well. Didn’t realize it was so tiny, I think I can bang it out in a week or 2 so I’ll try to get through that since it’s a topic I’m really interested in. I plan on reading all 4 volumes some time in the near future.

The reason for the circling explanations is to help the reader understand the many dialectical relationships, in proper context.

Reading David Harvey’s companion to capital book piece wise as I move through Capital is helping me quite a bit, that might help for your case as well.

Finishing Losurdo’s “Liberalism: A Counter-History”.
Biggest take-away: Fuck de Tocqueville. Losurdo highlights the most contradictory elements of early liberalism so well that it baffles me how cognitively dissonant the champions of this ideology could be. Like imagine being a slave-owner or a colonial administrator (I’m sorry) and still believing you’re for the cause of liberty and non-despotism. Now, racism and white (especially western) supremacy does a significant amount of heaving lifting for justifying this behavior, but still, dude.

I think it’s good to keep in mind that a lot of communists were purged. I mean look at Jakarta in the 60s, Nazi Germany, all the military dictatorships of LatAm.

I sleep good knowing it’s going to take these criminals at least 20 years to even be viably sufficient in processing rare earth materials.
