  • Yes they should say this. All book recs should be labelled fully and appropraitely. But on reddit the majority demographic thinks everyone is white, male, tech industry, 18-25, and into anime. So the assumption is we’re all into YA and are at that reading level.

    There’s also a major astroturfing industry on all book subs. Any chance to push their book will be taken no matter how blatantly wrong

    I was on r/fantasy yesterday when I saw a thread asking for “books with soft magic”. The OP had to post that Brandon Sanderson was not what they were looking for. Sanderson is famous as the HARD magic guy. But his fans will recommend his work to everyone. Even ppl who are LGBTQA+ - Sanderson is a tithing Mormon and a lot of LGBTQA+ ppl have had to say please stop recommending him to me for that reason.

    The YA stuff is the same astroturfing and hyper pushy fans.
