Raiders are rolling with an interim Head Coach, Offensive Coordinator, a 4th round rookie QB, and still hanging in there with top tier teams.

They have shown a lot of progress since Mcdaniels was fired, but we have to assume they are still using a majority of his playbook.

The losses haven’t been blow outs, and actually look competitive since AP has taken over.

I get the negativity, but just look at it realistically for a second. I’m not 100% sold on AOC at QB, but he still is making progress. I’m all for drafting a QB in the 1st round and letting them battle it out for the starting spot.

Just my thoughts. When the Chiefs tied it up 14-14 at halftime, I knew it was going to be a struggle to win the game. They’re SB champs with a generational QB and HoF HC. At least it wasn’t a completely embarrassing loss. (Like the Bears game.)

I’m really happy with it. We play teams hard and what else can you ask for. Honestly if we started the year with this coaching staff we may be in with a shot at the playoffs but I feel like it’s too late. Hopefully we can draft a qb next year

Despite the losses. I feel significantly better about our future and the direction the team is headed than at the beginning of the year. I believe this off-season is going to be a great one for us

Not to mention KC has had the same roster and same coaching staff for like 5 years. Those guys work well with each other

That’s the thing…they aren’t using the majority of JMD’s playbook. Hardagree scrapped most of it and started fresh, because McDaniels playbook obviously wasn’t working

What I think a lot of fans don’t get is our rookie OC and our rookie QB are working from a limited, newish playbook, and the entire team wasn’t even able to practice these plays in OTAs

Which makes it all the more miraculous and impressive that Pierce and co. are able to be so competitive under this new regime. They hung in there with Miami and KC and are doing so with a very bare bones playbook.

I appreciate that the Raiders are back to playing competitive, exciting football. Even though we have not been able to stop the run all year, but I chalk that up to personnel decisions (chandler Jones, taking Ty Wilson instead of Jalen Carter). But we have hitters on D and are getting more turnovers than previous years. The Raiders are at least fun to watch again (even in losses) and I am here for it!

I am monitoring it all game by game and watching pressers. I don’t think anyone should be reserving final judgement until the end of the season. They’ve mostly done exceptionally well and we’re losing with our heads up. None of that embarassing JMD shit.

The team is still the same team. AP has made it a team the players want to show up for but their strengths are still their strengths and their weaknesses are still their weaknesses. Personally I’m excited to see AP and AO4 develop as coach and qb and the defense develop into a solid and consistent force.

Principal needs now are offensive line and depth on defense, not quarterback (except for backup). AO4 is the qb now and for the next couple seasons barring injury. This should be non-controversial. And AP should get his contract. If I was in charge he’d have it already.

We have a foundation that can be built upon if we don’t blow it all up again this offseason. If we do blow it all up again then we’re back to square one and possibly/probably worse off.

I knew it was going to be a struggle when we were up 14-0 lol.

We’re doing well for what’s been going on this season. But the 2nd half yesterday…idk exactly but the best thing I can come up with is the lack of fire.

Yeah, and Maxx & Kolton not 100% two of the biggest lineman on both sides of the ball. And yeah, I don’t think I’ve felt comfortable with a Raiders lead in a game in many many years, sadly lol.

He has davante Adams, jakobi meyers, hunter renfrow and Josh Jacobs. The panthers might have the worst skill position group in the NFL.

True. He’s gotten better every game! Only thing that is his downfall is he has no running ability. Very much a pocket passer, easier for defenses to capitalize on that. I’m down for him being the QB next year, but I want their to be some competition. Jimmy G and Hoyer gone next season, QB room is going to be vastly different.

The negativity comes from fans who for some reason got it in their heads that we were magically going to make the playoffs cause we beat 2 bad teams. At the end of the day this team needs work. Oline needs to be fixed, Dline and secondary also need to be addressed. I’m all for drafting a qb I’m not AOC lover but I also don’t want to reach in the draft for a qb either. If the one we like falls to us sure but don’t just go draft a guy for the hell of it.

Pleasantly surprised by the team. Sucks getting smashed by the Chiefs but the first half showed promise. We have drafted so poorly at the top end of the draft for a long time it’s no wonder we lack depth. If one of the premium QB prospects is available we should definitely draft but no need to reach. Build the lines and we will compete.

Lack of talent and out coached. It is what it is. At least the team isn’t giving up. Sucks to lose but at least we’re somewhat competitive

Made this comment elsewhere, gonna drop it here too:

    I just ran the numbers.

In the five seasons/10 games since Mahomes became QB1, not counting last night, the Raiders have lost to the chiefs 9 times by an average of 16.9 points. Only 3 of those losses have been what you’d call “One Possession”:

Here are the combined margins of victory per season

    2018 - 39 total points

    2019 - 49 total points

2020 - -4 total points (the only season with a win)

    2021 - 66 total points

    2022 - 19 total points

I don’t understand why people want to burn everything down when last night was technically better than our historical average against Mahomes, and it was done with a rookie QB, OC, and Head Coach.

Gruden & Carr only did better than last night’s margin twice in 6 games. Bissacia and Carr didn’t beat that margin in either of their 2 games. McDaniels and Carr had 1 of 2 games better than that margin.

Why is this sub holding AP & AOC to a much higher standard than the “Glory Days” of getting stomped by 27-39 points???

No idea why they expect much more out of AOC/AP. It’s weird. And interesting statistics!

Why, because they don’t have tyreek? WR is the only position group you can look at KC and think “chumps”

Everywhere else they are still a top tier team. Their defense is strong as hell and they still have Majomes. Sure they aren’t literal lock-in favorites to win the super bowl this year, but don’t act like they’re some rusted husk of the team that literally just won the super bowl.

I hate this sub so very much sometimes
