I just love watching that guy play ball. I have seen him blow a few coverages. But he is a sure tackler. Packs some pop. Always looking to dislodge or strip ball. Has shown INT ability. Hypes up teammates. Talks shit. Plays with passion. Seems honest and sincere in interviews. I hope he keeps getting defensive snaps.

That is all.

He’s one of the later round picks Mike Mayock hit on. Not a hot take but this team would be in a much different place if Mayock/Gruden didn’t blow so many early round selections. I mainly blame Gruden for his poor talent evaluation abilities - and it translating to the draft. I give Mayock a bit of a break due to his stint on the NFL network.

Some players embody what it means to be a Raider. I think Amik is one of them. Marcus Peters is not.

I’m not hating on MP and what you say is true but based on his recent play I’m not a fan.

Marcus Peters is the definition of a Raider too. Scrappy guy from Oakland that always played ball hawk. Took what he wanted. The fact he’s washed at this point doesn’t mean he ain’t all that. It ain’t his fault that our regime didn’t think we’d have to add some actual secondary help.

Everyone knew MP was washed by the end of last season. He knew himself, it’s why he signed a $3M contract with us. If that’s your CB1 that’s the GMs fault, not the players. He’s a 30 year old CB that was always highly reliant on his athleticism.

Mostly agree with this take. MP as your CB1 after his steep athletic decline the last couple of years was GM malpractice, as usual for the Patriot dipshits running the team at the time. Wish we’d kept Big Reg, hope we get someone competent for a change.

Fuck him. Show some pride. If you are washed, retire. Don’t go out there and tackle like a bitch because you don’t want to get hurt or make an effort. You’re an embarrassment to real competitors like Crosby.

I’m sure you’d pass on the last 3 mil you may ever get with your families financial security at stake over pride

He’s a 4 time All Pro. He doesn’t have to worry about pride. He was legitimately one of the best ball hawking CBs of all time. If he wants to still play ball that’s his right. Again, when he signed here he wasn’t supposed to be CB1. He was supposed to be a mentor and a depth piece. Ain’t his fault our FO was full of clowns.

He probably would if he didn’t have to play every single snap. Obviously you can’t trot someone out there that doesn’t tackle, but at the end of the day it’s still the FOs fault for signing a washed up vet that very clearly doesn’t want to play as a starter anymore.

Thats not what I’m saying. Peters was clearly looking for a backup/mentor role. Our FO refused to sign actual DB talent so Peters was forced to start.

he’s not starting on any other team not called the Raiders, even though I love the guy. He’s like borderline 2nd string at most.

I know Raiders fans get all in their feels but people gotta realize this is the truth lol. You shouldn’t be downvoted here, it’s not hate just realism.

I also appreciate the heart he plays with but he blows coverages basically every time he’s in zone, isn’t big enough to contest tall pass-catchers in man coverage, and doesn’t do other things at a high enough level to make up for that. He’s just not a starting level player, and a good defense probably has better players on their bench.

Its a PG thing, the short range explosiveness, more than straight speed or height. The system has the receivers kind of contained and its down to the defender to have that speed of thought and physical explosiveness to make thing tight quickly.

Honestly is the 5’8 even a barrier for a starting perimeter corner anymore? Obviously it’d be better if he was taller, lol. But Darius Williams is 5’8, was a starter for the Rams in the SB (and multiple years) and I’m pretty sure he’s doing good in Jacksonville.

To me Robertson plays above his height. Ideally he’d be more of a #2 corner, but I’d have no issues giving him a 2nd contract if it’s reasonable

Dude comes to work with his helmet strapped and a backpack of passion and energy. I fucking love the guys like Amik who compete every snap and have that dog in em. That’s the culture I want for this team, guys that give a fuck.
