Have to SERIOUSLY re-build O line or you are wasting their talent and throwing salary cap down the drain. And I’m not talking about 3rd or 4th rounders. Go sign the best RT in free agency. Draft a stud center in 2nd round.
I can’t watch Andre James get rag-dolled any more. He’s a backup. So is Van Rouen and Eluemunor
Yup! Thats how you do it. Build that Oline like we did in 2016
Oline - dline - secondary(mostly just a #1 corner) in that order
You have to pick your poison, can’t stack the o line, d line, and secondary. IMO our secondary is good enough to hold coverage if the defensive line consistently gets pressure. So I would say d line and o line are the way to go, especially since we already have a stud on each one. Reggie had the right idea back in 2014-15. He just didn’t finish building the defensive line.
We need people with consistent motors. Crosby is in the whole damn game. Who’s his backup?
Yeah that’s why I said in the order I listed… fix the lines first then add to the secondary
It blows my fucking mind that I’m 2023 franchise still don’t understand that the lines are the most important aspect of the game and everything flows from there Your ability to speed up or slow down the game can make or break qbs and secondaries
Upvoted. And I think we can especially see how true this is against mobile quarterbacks and good O-lines, because they run our secondary in circles and wear them out. For instance, I think Hobbs is good, (not great), but if the D line isn’t getting any pressure by the end of the game he will get worn out and look very pedestrian.
Agreed that If we can get someone worth a damn on our d line to compliment Maxx then that helps our secondary. Our o line outside of Kolton is not up to par especially with an immobile QB like AOC.
Having said all that if we have a chance at a QB in the first round I’d take him.
If we played more press man, the d-line would be more effective, even with the same CBs. Our biggest problem is that the pass rush gets there about .25 seconds or less too late, because we’re not disrupting the receivers enough at the line. We’ve had zone heavy defensive coordinators since Crosby got there, and it has hindered his production.
O-line, man heavy defensive coordinator, DTs, then you go after CBs in the same year if you have cap space and/or draft picks available to do so.
The pass rush would also get there faster if Crosby wasn’t the only one on the line worthy of being a starter
True, but the vast majority of sacks on any team are because the QB can’t get rid of the ball immediately after the snap. I agree we need DTs before we need CB broadly, and that they feed each other…which is why I listed a defensive coordinator change before each. The bigger reason for our pass rush ineffectiveness than bad corner play or 2nd string DTs as starters, is HOW they are being told to play. We will have a blitz coming and the secondary in zone…makes zero sense in most cases because the QB can just dump it.
Probably another good Safety too
um, you forgot QB and Headcoach.
I think Hobbs steps up and has a pro bowl year next season
It just so happens that the next draft has a lot of OTs rated top 50 picks, but not so great for interior guys though.
Our O line really only needs a Center. You move Andre James to LG and Parham to RG. Give Munford the RT spot permanently, and you have a solid run blocking O line that is average pass blocking. That is a realistic dream scenario. If we draft Bo Nix, draft the Center that has played with him at Oregon. That QB/C duo in football is underrated.
This draft is heavy on WR. I think we need to take advantage of that in later rounds, alongside RBs. Zamir White isnt it.
We need a CB1 #24 forsure though.
Id say an LB that can take snaps away from Deablo. He is good but he just cant be reliable due to injuries. Amari Burney and Pola Mau can continue to develop and eventually be LBs, so I think we are fine.
DL will always be invested in. Or should always be invested in. Im still in the idea of letting Tyree continue to grow and move him inside. Malcolm Koonce has definitely earned playing across Crosby. Again, no matter how good the D line is, it is always a good idea to invest in the trenches.
I think we should get guards and move parham to the center.
Besides that, i think we should implement west coast scheme and invest in pass catching TE later in rounds. Whether its like Waller (WR converted to TE), and invest in some scatbacks like a C-Mac.
And I personally think in this draft, you can draft a QB (Not as our starting QB) in day 3 or UDFA and have him as a swiss army knife. Use him in RPOs. Anything to keep defenses on their toes.
Are you dumb? We literally drafted the best TE in the draft this year and that’s what he is? Do you even watch our games?
What the fuck do you think Mayer is?
IMO CB1 is a MUUUUCH bigger need than OL. If we have a chance to take Koolaid and don’t love any QBs on the board, he should be our 1st pick.
Incorrect. We have the worst corners in the league and our D is #17. Gotta score more if we are bringing back 17 and 8
OL should be our biggest priority. Then filling gaps and strengthening the defense. More receiver depth, more depth elsewhere. Finally, a FA backup qb.
It doesn’t work that way. It depends on how many more meaningless games we win to screw up the draft at this point. You forget about Leatherwood already? We need to stop reaching for positions and project players and start taking the best damn player available.
I forgot our motto is “just lose (for draft picks), baby”
Adams almost definitely will be back Jacob’s is questionable/doubtful
Jacobs will only be back if we hire AP back. I don’t think a new GM/HC signs a RB for $12M+/year.
They’ll franchise tag Jacobs next year. He’ll get his 14M guaranteed like he wanted. After that he’ll likely only want to sign a 3+ year deal which raiders will likely move away from him.
It’s been long overdue. We need a legit RT and a RG. OL overachieved last year and they won’t get back to that level. Offense starts with OL and we need to protect AOC or any rookie QB coming in.
First things first before the draft, we reinstate Antonio pierce
Even if he loses out? There no rush, let the rest of the season play out and see how he looks
If he loses out but the games are close and the team played hard, I think we should keep him. I don’t want another splashy hire.
I think it’s because of the situation that makes things so hard, guy was LB coach coming in and trying to pull together an offense with a backup qb, bad line and a terrible defense
His Coaching has been sus man. Raiders fans always rebound hard after we fire our Head Coach. It’s like every time we think the new girl is so so hot. She so so is not.
Oline is down across the entire NFL and I think we have to figure out a way to win with the guys we have. We need AOC to take a step forward in his development, which should open things up in the running game and take pressure off the defense. On defense we’re already close and just need some of our younger players to step up
Regardless of whether O-Line is down, we are definitely at the bottom of “down” so that doesn’t bode well for us especially with how each team seems to have a savage on the D-Line that will create havoc if we can’t prevent them from getting penetration.
Our O-line is in the middle of the NFL so it’s not that bad compared to the rest of the NFL and there simply aren’t many available players who could make it better.

No one is winning anything with that group.
Not sure why you are getting downvoted. Other than Miller and maybe Parham our O line is swiss cheese. It seems like as soon as the ball snaps AOC has somebody right on this grill.
We need a qb first
idk why somebody’s downvoting anybody that says we need an O-line, it’s common knowledge💀
Welcome to reddit
There’s only about 5-7 ‘good’ o lines in the NFL. MAX
then we need to be one of those, especially if we are planning on young QB’s in the next few years.
Wasn’t Parham suppose to play Center?
