I’m all for keeping AP, he just needs a great OC on the crew. I would only not take him if we could get Harbaugh. I know Raider nation is split about 50/50 on that, but we’re split 50/50 on most things. Keep AOC and develop him - it’s unfortunate he has no OC, a rookie head coach and a line that can’t provide good running results.

That being said draft a QB in the first round, then go for offensive line / DT / dline - after that it doesn’t matter to me what we go for - just no Tight Ends or special teamers are needed. Our CBs are young too.

i would love to see AP remain as HC next year. the players play for him with motivation we haven’t seen in a long ass time. let him build a solid staff around him and grow from there.

AOC is trash. You fuckers need to open your eyes and stop with this stupid bullshit.

The Las Vegas Raiders currently DO NOT HAVE A QB. They have someone taking snaps.

Yeah man… at this point we have been bad for so long that we literally have probably more than half the fans in this sub that have never seen back to back winning seasons, so they don’t know what a winner looks like. They’re basically all scar tissue. It’s disheartening to come in here looking for some sensible discussion and read many of these takes. I hope we turn it around right away, but look at all the teams who have 5-6 year or longer runs… you can clearly see them building to it in the several years leading up to the run (including at times falling on their face). I’m convinced that if we followed the same trajectory as one of those successful franchises, the 2/3 seasons of building towards a great run would be filled with probably around half this sub bitching that we need to fire whoever the coach and gm are and dump whoever the qb is. It’s depressing to say the least and let’s not even talk about the game threads. 🤣

I watched Bo Nix get absolutely clowned when he was at Auburn. So much so he had to move across the country. 1/3 of his completions ARE BEHIND THE LINE OF SCRIMMAGE and 76 % are 1-9 yards. Please god no.

Yeah but see, this year any QB you draft is a giant killer. No way any of those guys will be bad. It’s all smooth sailing for the 5 teams that draft a QB in the first round this year.

So I’m an Oregon fan and I’ve watched every game of his as a Duck (and his first game at Auburn where he beat Oregon). Earlier this year, I would tell people I would stay away from him - the Oregon offense created easy looks and lots of checkdowns and screens. That said, he has honestly changed my mind a bit. He’s been making much better decisions with the ball, he isnt bailing out of the pocket early, and he has made some really nice NFL caliber throws. He honestly deserves the Hesiman this year and he’s totally changed my opinion. All this said… it’s still only one truly elite year. Not sure how much you weigh this year versus the totality of his previous seasons.

I don’t know about Nix. I think at the NFL level competent coaching/systems have at least 40% of success. With talent, work ethic, and sports IQ having the other highest %. But to say Harbaugh couldn’t improve our chances for success based on his past performances, I think, isn’t reasonable. A smart betting man bets on proven success and history. Coaching in the NFL is by far the most important in the major professional sports and Harbaugh has proven successful time after time, this cannot be debated.

Defense has been shit for many years. Build the o line and d line. Stop obsessing over QB. Carr had issues but was good enough to win a SB with a good O line and a good defense. But let’s keep chasing that mythical QB who is going to win all on his own. Burn all are draft capital on shit rookie quarterbacks and has beens free agents.

Yeah bro let’s build the Oline, Dline, an entire defense, running game, receivers, and some depth too. That way we can finally get a QB taking 15-20% of our cap to win us a superbowl!

I see AP as the Mike Singletary to the niners. He probably won’t lead us to the Super Bowl, but he is restoring a broken culture and righting the wrong direction.

Oddly enough Harbaugh came in and brought the niners to relevance right after.

I think AP has earned a year. I don’t think he is the best long term decision, but he’s great for the immediate future.

I’d be good with AP staying on but get him some help at HC maybe an assistant HC with some HC experience. Just to help guide him and point out some opportunities for success that AP may overlook.

Yea but there’s no way he’s earned that to the point where we shouldn’t be looking at options after the season. It’s not crazy for some fans to want a better option at head coach.

Not saying that at all. I like him, just his lack of experience is glaring. And what’s wrong with giving him an extra tool to help his growth and help the team grow into what we all want them to be?

There is no two head coaches in any of my talk. AP is the head coach and we find an assistant to help groom him for the position. Hell the assistant HC could be brought in for experience, someone that AP can approach when the needs arises.

Nobody is pushing AOC out the door. I welcome him as somebody who will compete with the early round qb selection and at worst hang around as a backup.

The question I keep asking myself is, “if not AP, do I want Harbaugh instead?” Harbaugh is interested and he has had too much success not to hire him. Personally I don’t like the guy, but I think that’s what would happen. Same thing with AOC, if not him, who is it gonna be at qb? Are we going to start another rookie? Are we going to try a re-tread? I absolutely hate the coaching and qb carousel, it never works, ever. If AP and AOC don’t win the next 4 out of 5 games, then I feel like we are in an impossible situation. But hey, Mickie Daniels is gone, so there’s that.

Anointing both of them as the 2024 day 1 coach and starting QB is equally annoying. Neither has doing anything for me to say, that’s my guy. AP has made some seriously boneheaded in game decisions, and our Offense has been below average with AOC at the helm. If we don’t beat a couple good teams, which they haven’t yet, I don’t want either back. But let’s let the season play out.
