Final Fantasy 13-2. The plot is overwhelming stupid, JRPG trash and the protagonists are almost comically dense but the gameplay is fun.

But he doesn’t! He’s not getting through his progressions well! He isn’t throwing the ball accurately! He gets stuck on his second read, he oscillates between first and second, he isn’t throwing people open and when he faces pressure in the pocket he gets nervous and starts overthrowing his receivers.

The ball to Mayer wasn’t a fucking dime, it was almost out of bounds and Mayer made a great catch. A dime is hitting your receiver in stride so they can take it to the house. A dime is fitting it through double coverage and hitting your guy in the numbers.

A fucking jump ball isn’t a dime.

Then why not get someone experienced if you’re worried this guy can’t get it done?

The reason we’ve all switched to talking about taking a QB is because, as you even admitted, AOC isn’t going to be a guy. I’ll keep pushing back on this whole idea that he ‘is solid’, or really good if he just makes a few changes. That implies he’ll take a team to a winning record, it’s looking like he won’t do that. He’s average at best. So he’ll be a backup.

You can’t win in this league without a QB, simple as that. The reason people are clamouring for the draft to focus on a QB specifically is that it is loaded with talent. Last year wasn’t and 2022 was even thinner at the QB position so when there are options you need to take them.

You brought up Dilfer but:

1. we don’t have one of the greatest defensive units of all time.
2. the rules have changed so you can’t play defence like that anymore.

So that’s not an option.

We need to improve a lot of things on this team but even if we do if we don’t have a QB we’re the 49ers with Jimmy.

If you feel the call of the Raiders then join up, just be prepared for some lumps along the way.

The future may be bright though.

The Vikings are certainly making the case for being beat-able right now.

KC is the biggest hurdle but the Broncos have also started to turn it around. 5-0 is unlikely but if we shape up (and play four quarters of football rather than a half) we could end up 3-2.

Neither do the other two I compared him too. Neither does Zach Wilson.

We’re going to start him for the rest of the season but we have no obligation to him going into next season.

It’s not hate to not like a player or to criticise his performance. Maybe rather than objecting to it you could make a case to keep him. Not this coach speak ‘fine tune’ and ‘real deal’ talk. What do you think he offers as a starting QB in 2024? Like actually get into the weeds here.

We’re not moving off him this year but looking at the games he’s played so far it’s been underwhelming. He’s had two good quarters of offence and they both came against the Giants.

He is overthrowing his receivers, he is holding the ball too long and not going through his progressions quickly. He also isn’t good rolling out of the pocket.

He looked bad against the Jets and while they are a good defence their own incredibly shit offence did mean we had opportunities to wear them out (and eventually JJ broke off that big run to set up our TD play).

Today he looked lost and while I believe Miami have been a somewhat underrated defence AOC was gifted great starting field position by our defence and he didn’t do anything with it. And before you blame the play calling, once they opened the passing game up that’s when he was overthrowing balls, putting it danger and turning it over. The conservative play calling may have been to try to limit mistakes.

As for being a rookie, so? He’s 3-6 TD to INTs, that’s shit no matter when you do it. Tommy DeVito, the meme he beat, is 6-3 TD to INT and the Giants are a much worse team than we are. Tyson Bagent currently has a season completion percentage of 65.7 and 3 TD to INTs. Aidan only has a 62.1 completion percentage and he has Tae to throw to. Bagent also has a better season passer rating (71.4 vs 70.6, both bad but yikes).

So no, weren’t not sleeping on him. He looks like backup come third string guy.

He’s also 25, he’s the same age as Justin Herbert, heck he’s only a year younger than Sam Darnold and he’s two years older than Brock Purdy.

We’re not going to cut him but today was the first time he played a complete team which can compete in all 3 phases.

He’s got the Chiefs twice, the Vikings (you want a diamond in the rough, Josh Dobbs), Colts (Minshew is trying to make the case he can start somewhere next season) and the chargers and donkeys. He needs to win some (half) of these games. He needs to win 5 if we’re thinking about playoffs.

These are the test games. If he looks like he did the last two weeks? We’re trading up for a QB because we we’ve shackled to mediocrity at the position for way too long.

I believe in AP, he’s got the attitude and is building a culture. It’s like we found our own Dan Campbell, now AP just needs the staff around him to help him execute.

I don’t believe in Aidan at all and you don’t have to believe in him to start him.

We’re not replacing him mid season, we don’t have anyone better but that doesn’t mean we need to keep him as our starter next season. We see what he plays like down the stretch against a mixture of good and okay teams, maybe he suddenly finds his form or maybe he looks like he did today.

AOC has 112 yards so far. 46 yards of those came on one play to Tae.

This is concerning.

So we’ve grabbed a guy who committed burglary in college, skips rehab sessions and tried to bring a gun onto a plane.

At the very least this should be interesting

We can definitely beat the colt, chargers, broncos and Vikings. That gives us 9-8. If we can pull one out over the chiefs we’re a shoe into the playoffs.
