I wish he could scramble for some extra yards when things break down and there’s open field. But he’s doing well and hopefully keeps improving.

The trade off is he is poised enough to go through all his progressions even when shit breaks down and still get off an accurate pass- which is the more unique talent to have. He moves around in the pocket well enough. Look at the TD pass he threw to MAyers against the Jets. He scanned the field, no one was open. got pressure, rolled right, and threw a dime to Mayers. Thats what you want. Would it be nice if he could take off like Lamar JAckson or Josh Allen, of course. If he could do that we wouldnt have him because someone would of drafted him in the first round. Kid is still young. I love how he throws it.

But he doesn’t! He’s not getting through his progressions well! He isn’t throwing the ball accurately! He gets stuck on his second read, he oscillates between first and second, he isn’t throwing people open and when he faces pressure in the pocket he gets nervous and starts overthrowing his receivers.

The ball to Mayer wasn’t a fucking dime, it was almost out of bounds and Mayer made a great catch. A dime is hitting your receiver in stride so they can take it to the house. A dime is fitting it through double coverage and hitting your guy in the numbers.

        A fucking jump ball isn’t a dime.

I think if he could do those things, he would have been a 1st round pick rather than a 4th. There has to be instinct for running when the pocket breaks down to the progressions are all covered. Stepping up in the pocket and awareness can be coached. I am not sure about running for a 1st down. I can’t think of any QB that learned this.

Even Brady for as great as he was and the great personal coaching he had through TB12 (not through the Pats) to improve his fundamentals and footwork could get him to run well.

I truly believe with a full off-season training camp and reps with the 1st squad, he can really sharpen up his timing on those missed passes and work on pocket awareness.

😂when he holds on to that rock too long, every time I’m like, oh he’s gonna die. But he rises from the dead every time. 🤷🏽‍♂️
