We’re still okay for making sauce.

When I was a kid, I loved Red Delicious apples. They were tart and sweet and crispy. As an adult, they taste hollow and crunchy in a way that makes me wonder whether the apples have changed or I have.
They’ve always been that way to me. This last fall i learned the glory of Cortland apples: Massive, juicy, soft but still a little crunch 🤤
I fresh picked some Cortland a few years ago and they were the absolute best, but every time I’ve seen them in store and grabbed a couple they’ve been really meh. I hope it’s just a fresh vs not thing rather than the cultivar going downhill.
Dunno, the ones I had in november/december were fantastic, but I’m told they were on the small side for cortlands. My mom was staying with someone in upstate new york while i was a toddler, and apparently watching a toddler eat cortland apples the size of their own head is hilarious
Then why do we still smell so good?
