the richest 1% consume about 15% worth of total GHG emissions (when counting consumption).

The gains from all those 1% (globally) becoming… minimum wage workers would be a 15% drop in GHGs. Which would be a very good chunk, but not enough. One billionaire is unlikely to even be responsible for 1% of the total. I imagine that the rocket assholes could rank up on GHGs if the decide to commute every day from a private space station, but I’m still not sure that one or two of them would reach 1% of the global GHGs.

I don’t think that it’s a sustainable way to achieve the good goals just by some minor intimidation.

The point of the chart above is to understand that:

          1. The rich are a minority and their incredibly excessive consumption is a problem, about 15% of the problem. But not 100% of the problem.
          2. The rich are a problem because of their power, they’re holding the world back from what needs to be done.
          3. The American Dream is not compatible with sustainability. Temporarily embarrassed millionaires need to stop trying. We need private sufficiency and private luxury, not each individual or family founding their own empire and their own species if possible.

Far be it from me to defend billionaires, but if you don’t understand that violence towards other sentient beings, including billionaires, doesn’t align with veganism - theory or “praxis” - I question your suitability to Mod a vegan community. Socialpankakemix was off-topic - espousing ideas that are contrary to veganism - and that should have been addressed earlier. They derailed a great contribution from VeganPizza69
