Hi Y’all!
So first of this is my fourth attempt at getting into a souls like. Previously have given a go at Elden Ring, Sekiro and Demon Souls, but always bailed or rage quit.
But I just got my hands on Lies of P and recently reached the rabbit siblings and have been dying, replaying and dying, but also progressing.
So I am confused, because I read people say Lies of P is like super punishing and difficult. So does it ramp up at some point or is people just overselling it?
I found it harder than others in the genre. The parry timing never clicked for me. Sekiro became intuitive. Lies of P just gave me a headache.
Dark Souls 3 or Elden Ring are probably the easiest if you use all the tools available to you.
I find it has brutal difficulty spikes compared to soulsbornes but the better question is what difficulty level are you playing it at?
Also totally dig the nick!
The standard one. Can’t remember the name of it, but the one it was on by default.
And yes, it also spikes for me. I think the second boss or so, the huge King’s Flame guy, was a bitch. I spent like 15 tries before I got him.
And I read the Britherhood of Rabbits also should be a challenge, but haven’t fought it yet.
There will definitely be a couple bosses more frustrating than the Black Rabbit Brotherhood. No shame in lowering the difficulty if you’re anywhere close to ragequitting tho. A game’s meant to be fun - if it’s not fun, why bother?
Lol the White Lady is already more frustrating, although not being a proper boss.
I hear you. I finished the game like 5 times and the White Lady I still struggle with lol
Yeah she is definitely the hardest I encountered so far. Just beat that big steroid guy and going to the marshes now. I must say I am enjoying and it might be the first Soulslike I actually finish.
Awesome, I’m glad! Did you end up tuning the difficult or did you stay at the default for now?
Looking forward to hearing of your experience with the upcoming boss 👀
I stayed on the default difficulty. I know it is allowed to turn down the difficulty, but then it feels like I didn’t actually beat the boss/game.
And yeah I am excited to see how I do as well, because I just found the saintess statue and was able to respec and not have a stupidly none focused build. So I went down in technique by like 10 levels, undid my motivity and whatever the one for carrying capacity is called and got some more health and stamina in return.
And I will keep you posted!
I know it may feel like that because of some very elitist mindsets shared by a very vocal minority of the community, but it’s just rubbish. You can play the game however way you want. I’ve gotten to a point where I’m using both the Mimic Tear and a summon whenever I can for the Elden Ring DLC’s bosses. I don’t have to prove myself that I can beat this boss on my own, the “real” way, and can just cut it short for my own time’s sake and my enjoyment. It’s been doing wonders for my enjoyment so far and it makes me not feel as discouraged when playing. If somebody wants to discredit my experience, they can just fuck right off lol.
Just some food for thought - absolutely fine if that’s what you want from the game. I used to be like that too.
Fun fact, you don’t need the Saintess statue to respec your stats anymore. It used to be that way, but you can just respec at the Gold Coin Tree as of quite some time now. Makes it easier to experiment with your builds. :)
Great, looking forward to it. :) What’s your favourite weapon (combination) prior to the respec and after it now that you have your desired stats?
Well I would never tell anyone that they are playing it the wrong way. People can do whatever they want with the game that they play, so it is solely for myself that I feel that I wouldn’t beat the game if I did.
That being said I use the summons in every boss fight, because the game obviously wants me to do so. And according to YouTube Elden Rings wants you to too. So for me that is playing the game as intended. And again if people wants to not use them, I won’t patronise them for doing so.
And thank for the tip! And I will just stick with the broken collab halbard thing for now. Which I have a lot of opinions on!
I suck at soulslike, even though I love them. There’s a cheese if you want and if it hasn’t been patched yet, throwables are quite powerful. I did finish the game overall though, not always cheesing it 😁
Yeah I read that :p but I don’t like throwables, because it makes me rely on a super limited resource to deal damage. So I just never use them :p
It’s actually not that crazy limited. It can seriously augment “real” play.
lol okay, that is really cheesy. Just tried it out on the white lady and the few throwables I had on me took the quarter of health I needed to take her out. In the last couple of attempts I managed to get her down to 25% before dying.
Cool trick, but I don’t think I will be using it. It does seem like real cheese.
Depends on the skill level. For me it’s often necessary 😂 But yeah, I agree. However since there aren’t human summons, I needed this for some bosses.
I ended up using them for elites I don’t want to deal with. Like that stupid double shielded bastard on the walking rails in the Grand Exhibition.
Hehe yeah some are super "fun*
Mostly no, but certain bosses yes. They are all very doable but you may need to change tactics. Brotherhood is hard because of multiple targets. I switched to a weapon with a wider sweep to increase my chance of hitting multiple enemies. I found that mostly I would use the summon assist to distract the big guy (hopefully) and really focus on killing off each little one as fast as possible to keep 2 or less enemies on the field. Use fable arts on the big dude, want to get your major damage on him. If you arent great at parrying look for weapons that give a high defense, or big guy’s hits will really chew your health. Swap amulet to the one that hits humans harder. Use your fire thing on the blade sharpener. Use the miracle that heals your partner.
Thanks, I changed my grind stone element thing to fire, but that was pretty much it. Now the big guy is red pavement paint!
