The world isn’t ready for Dungeons & Kittens. I have it at home. Way richer than expected.
Has anyone here played daggerheart? I’ve only read through its srd and the rules and dice mechanics are completely uninteresting to me. I typically prefer rules light games, osr inspired, or pbta. Nothing in daggerheart’s rules screams that it sounds fun to play at the table, or that it wouldn’t turn into a rules slog like dnd, but maybe I’m missing something in there
Daggerheart is our main TTRPG and the appeal is the it leans more on narrative and story telling. Its a lot more flexible in terms of rules than DnD. So no, no rules slog. The hope and fear dice make rolls feel more dynamic. But we like theatre of mind, Rule of Cool and whatnot so the narrative forward aspect of it appeals yo our play style.
I haven’t played the final release version, but played the intro scenario in the original beta release. I know there’s been some changes since but not fully aware of the scope.
It seemed to work well for the style of game my group tends to play. I plan on buying it and trying a longer campaign once my current ones are done.
It may just not be your cup of tea, and that’s okay.
Is daggerheart any good?
I mean, it just won “best rules” and “best game” awards. So it would appear that at least some people think so.
Thank you for posting!
