The field of E. coli research has already established tremendous progress and a systematic academic foundation. AI used the already established model called 'ΦX174." This is not a model created by AI on its own, but one created by a Human. And AI designed it based on that, and a person chose the model among them with the highest “potential.” How can one determine whether the likelihood is low or high? Because a Human already know. And out of about 300, 16 are said to have succeeded. During this experiment, what AI did was act as a calculator.
Well, as you and I both know full well, AI never made anything of its own — it’s all just regurgitated trash. So no, I never for once believed AI did this entirely of its own volition. I understand what you’re saying, but a tool like this in the hand of the wrong person can still spell catastrophe. It’s like the difference between giving a chainsaw to a lumberjack, and giving one to Leatherface.
