Regardless, your point about copyright is interesting. Tell me, what do you believe will be the effect of this law? Do you think it will affect AI in a broader sense (for example, could it affect LLMs, image generators, or even the secondary effects we are seeing from the broader AI paradigm such as environmental damage etc.) or do you believe that the effects will be more niche restricted to specific axioms of AI, and if so, which ones and in what way?

Well, as you and I both know full well, AI never made anything of its own — it’s all just regurgitated trash. So no, I never for once believed AI did this entirely of its own volition. I understand what you’re saying, but a tool like this in the hand of the wrong person can still spell catastrophe. It’s like the difference between giving a chainsaw to a lumberjack, and giving one to Leatherface. There will inevitably always be a human element, so please don’t think I’m misinterpreting what this article is saying. And yes, not many ‘creations’ succeeded, but that doesn’t mean for one second that one day they won’t all succeed. And nothing guarantees it will be safe.

I’m not complaining about what’s been done, I’m annoyed at why they prioritise this when AI is destroying the environment, wasting money, etc. They could pass laws to save the planet, but oh no, this of all things is priority for them. And by the look of the comments section of that article, it seems I’m not the only one who thinks this law isn’t prioritising the right things. Just sayin’ 👇
