        14 000 V is an insanely high voltage - around 100 times as much as what you get out of a wall outlet. I don’t know about this case, but the cases I know of (mostly railway catenary) can also deliver generally at least 10 000 A. That’s more than enough to essentially fry all your internal organs from the inside, and if you survive it, it’s an insanely long and painful recovery process.

          It’s not the volts, it’s the amps. I would regularly play with a Van de Graaf generator, which produced close to 100,000 volts and could touch it directly. The difference is it is also a fraction of an amp so can’t really do much.

            Yes and no. If you have a 5V power source that can deliver 10 000 amps, you won’t even notice anything if you touch it. If you have a 5 000V power source that can deliver 10 000A, you’re fucked. And my point is, generally when voltages are that high (outside of some scientific experiments like yours), they can also provide however many amps it needs to seriously fuck you up.
