That icon is much more noticeable using the web browser UI, appearing next to every post and every comment (clicking it goes to the home instance where the content came from), though 3rd-party apps substitute that with their own provided experience.
Like iirc Voyager has it upon the app startup but it’s grey not colored like this, and I don’t typically start Voyager from scratch but rather just pop it back up for as long as possible, so that startup screen is rarely visited.

Maybe I am confusing it with another one (like Connect and/or Sync, though I historically have not cared about 3rd-party apps) but I thought it wasn’t being updated for a long time - yet its last update was just last month so not a worry now (if it ever was)!
