WASHINGTON (AP) — Americans are deeply frustrated with President Donald Trump’shandling of the economy and rising prices, with most panning his performance and blaming his policies as higher costs threaten his party’s chances in November.

A new poll from The Associated Press-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research finds that only 17% of U.S. adults approve of the Republican president’s handling of the cost of living. Just 26% approve of his handling of the economy overall, marking a new low.

…

Despite their frustration, most Republicans, 67%, say factors outside of Trump’s control are more to blame for high prices.

“I think inflation is a very difficult thing to tackle,” said Fred Naumann, 51, a Republican and longtime Trump supporter who lives in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

Though he would like to see interest rates come down, Naumann, who works in the automotive industry, supports tariffs and the war with Iran, believing it was necessary.

Overall, however, most Americans, 69%, continue to say the war has not been worth fighting, up slightly from 64% in July. Only 28% approve of how Trump is handling Iran.

Americans are also unhappy with Trump’s trade wars. Only about 3 in 10 U.S. adults approve of how he is handling trade negotiations with other countries, down from about 4 in 10 in March. And 64% say he has “gone too far” on imposing new tariffs on other countries, up from 58% in January.

mid-terms are gonna come down to whether there’s enough magats who hate the price of fuel and groceries more than they hate ‘those people’, and vote blue for probably the first time in their lives.

I don’t think most of them would ever vote blue. They are too much wrapped in “red vs blue team sports” identity politics. At best, they will simply sit out the election, which would still help.

Except that’s complete bs. Trump voters are infamous for only showing up when Trump is on the ballot. They should’ve destroyed the Dems in 2022 but instead they had a very mediocre performance.

This problem is unfixable. Even if we get an entire sweep of Mamdanis in the midterms, it doesn’t change the fact that there’s still a temporarily dormant critical mass of pig-ignorant shitheads waiting for the next absolutely vile piece of shit to come along so they can vote for them.

That and a whole bunch of lazy voters who come out to vote dem only when shit is completely falling apart and not a second before.

Combine them with the shithead perpetually lazy who never vote and yeah, feels fucked.

I’ll take them. I’ll welcome them with open arms. I’ve seen with my own eyes Orthodox Jews show up to pro-Palestinian protests en masse wielding the biggest signs and creating phalanxes to shield seated student protestors. I’ve seen obvious suburbanites show up to urban BLM protests in country club pastels to stand as meat shields in front of riot police.

There are groups in the US who stay out of politics completely as a matter of cultural or religious separatism who nevertheless observe from afar and will break their rules to emerge in times of great upheaval and bolster the ranks of those fighting injustice and oppression.

There are Americans of privilege who will accept physical, financial, and social risk on their neighbors’ behalf.

There are Americans who have very little and can’t show up to the fight without risking their livelihood, yet do so anyway.

And yes, there are the lazy, the homebodies, and agoraphobic types who nonetheless quietly turn up to do their part, even if all they can contribute is their presence.

                I will always welcome them.

I doubt that gas prices will come down. A very deep doubt. As far them finding a way to forget…yeah, they’ll make something up. Civil War or killing people at the polls. That’ll take attention off gas prices.
