“The prime minster [Netanyahu] said we are not interested in expanding the confrontation with Syria and we hope we will not need to fight against the new rebels that are presently taking over Syria. So why do we do precisely the opposite?”
Because the prime minister is interested in provoking more war. So he won’t have to go to prison.
Wasn’t it just a buffer zone a week ago and now it’s a settlement?
Yup. Now taking bets on how long until they need a new buffer zone.
Ultimately they want that to be up by the Turkish border.
The new buffer zone will be Jordan.
Most of the Golan Heights was occupied in 1967, and annexed in 1981 (in a move that most of the world still does not recognize as legitimate).
As far as I can tell, the settlements being discussed are still in that region, not the newly occupied region.
Israelis have a bottomless greed for other people’s land.
They funded and supported anti Assad fight in order to get this exact outcome.
The unchecked cancer is spreading? Shocker!
Good ol’ lebensraum.
